Great video. Here is an additional win: Every single one of the kaijus have their own unique fighting style. Godzilla mostly relies on brute strenghth and his atomic breath. During the final battle, he keeps spamming his atomic breath on Kong, seeing him as more of a minor obstacle in his way and trying to simply subdue him, until Kong gets a good hit with his axe on Godzilla and then sneak attacks him. Godzilla then got pissed and procceeded to end the fight as quickly as possible and attacked Kong on all fours procceeding to bite him and scratch him with his claws, just like a raging animal. Kong relied more on intelligence and tried to come up with different tactics and tools during the fight in order to counter Godzilla's atomic breath and get close to him so as to use his speed and more advanced arms to delivered close-quarters-combat combos on the slower Godzilla. Mechagodzilla was charging in battle with immense speed and strength, while also doing some outmaneuvring of his own. Plus, there was quite some character animation with Mechagodzilla not only focusing his attacks on Godzilla, but also clearly torturing him before procceeding to finish him off. Even the warbats had their own unique fighting style, since they attempted to grab on Kong and squish him, ending the fight as quickly as possible, just like a real python would do. This movie did an excellent job showcasing each kaijus strengths and weaknesses and seeing their fighting styles clash and interract was interesting......and sooooo much fun.

In current studies on wolves “alpha” does get used for the parents of the rest of the pack (though some wolf packs have an aunt or uncle thrown in to help babysit the newest litter of pups). @4:16 I think that it's awesome that the closest moment we have with Godzilla still shows how small and insignificant we are in the grand scheme of things - Godzilla is the steward of the entire Earth and his duties go far beyond saving just humankind. Watanabe essentially sacrificing himself and barely getting acknowledgment from Godzilla brings the unpredictable aspect of Godzilla - he is the balancer of nature, but at what point does he turn his attention to us? Humanity has shown the capability to create Kaiju and I don't think Godzilla is going to just let that continue. He is the cautionary tale against the lust for power and domination, whereas Kong is the embodiment of the exploring spirit and empathizes with humanity and their wish for self-preservation in the face of monsters.

The sign language was quite well done in this movie, I thought. The girl is a native signer, so she of course was fine, and the woman playing her guardian looked like someone who actually knew sign language rather than how it comes across with most actors who look like they learned a few gestures right before the cameras rolled. She wasn't perfect given that her signs were just a little too broad and stiff, but she was better than average, especially for a Hollywood blockbuster.

My favorite moment is the roar off. Godzilla wants Kong to submit, but Kong (despite being beat) roars back in defiance. That short scene really illustrates two things: 1. Godzilla is king of the monsters 2. Kong bows to no one.

13:00 if you look back to the Godzilla skull around the time Kong picks up the axe, you'll get the distinct impression that these two species were not friends.
@pokeyscorpion8224 Жыл бұрын
It's not exactly a Godzilla skull, but it has been confirmed to be a closely related Gojira species. But yeah, they were absolutely not allies in any way; the Kong species hunted Gojiras and used their bodies for weapons

This was such a fun movie, one of the most enjoyable that's dropped all year. I think Godzilla was always going to win, thanks to that atomic breath, size, and those jaws, but they did a good job selling the big advantage that Kong has, the intellect of a primate.

I just really enjoy how passionate you are for entertainment, and it makes me see your points and get into it even if I’m not the biggest fan of the movies you talk about. I wish everyone had this much pure love for films the way you do.

15:45 that’s the thing. He didn’t. If he truly submitted than he wouldn’t have roared back which if anything shows that he isn’t a pushover.

Even though I think 2014 Godzilla is by far the best Monsterverse movie, I love how this movie wasn't afraid to be a big ball of fun. Kinda reminds me of the older Godzilla movies.

It’s actually pretty crazy how Kong’s even older then marvel/dc. Idk I just couldn’t even imagine it lol. I mean it makes sense how so much of Godzilla and his story are inspired by him
@treyrex59873 жыл бұрын
Exactly! And for some strange reason, people don't give Kong that much respect for that. Which I think is pretty messed up.
@Zek3nator3 жыл бұрын
People don’t give him respect in comparison to *Godzilla.* Important distinction. Kong has had very few films to develop him as a character, seeing as half of his movies are either remakes or reboots. Godzilla hasn’t been around as long, but he’s had a much more varied history, which is why he generally get more respect among kaiju fans.
@Telcontar863 жыл бұрын
And Tarzan has been around even longer than Kong. In pop culture Sherlock Holmes eclipses both. It's amazing how long some characters have been with us. Kong and Godzilla are top of the pack for giant monsters though, no question

godzilla came out in 1954 so he's even older than almost all of marvel's most famous heroes like spider-man, x-men, the avengers (except captain america) and fantastic four

I actually took a closer look at the axe that King Kong was holding and it matches Godzilla’s back fin spike thingy. So it may have been made out of an ancestor of Godzilla. In case anyone messed it.
