You might have 2 black and 2 white if its in the middle of a run. If not it will have only 2.

Hello, I'm installing a dusk to dawn with motion sensor, for some reason my light stays on all day. I wonder if I connect the wires in the right way. I have 3 WHITE (2 from the light and one not connected both ways to any thing), 2 BLACK and 1 RED. I'm so confused. Right now I connect 2 WHITE with the WHITE and 2 BLACK +RED with the BLACK. Did I do wrong ? I saw the RED on your clip but it's not clear if you connect it to something. Thank you.

All the white go together. then you have the 2 blacks and a 1 red they all go together. If your light is not going off then you might have something blocking the photo cell.

You will have 3 white one from the wall and 2 from light. Then you should have 1 black from wall and one from the light and 1 red from light. They all go together.

I hope this works. Let me know how it goes!

@@FloridaFamFive Hello, I wish I can show you a picture how the wires were when it was delivered. I tried to connect 2 lights already with all the solutions you advised but still have the same result. It stayed ON all day. Today after watching your clip I bought the third light to study how the wires were out of the box and I think I found the solution. My project is to replace an old existing motion sensor light and from the wall, I only have 1 BLACK and 1 WHITE with no ground. From the light when I opened the box, I think there is a reason that the manufacture set up this way, there are 1 BLACK + 1 RED connected with a nut and taped it very tied, there is no way to connect it with any wire except to remove the tape and nut. Which I made that mistake with the other light (remove the tape and nut then connected it with the BLACK from the wall) and there is 1 BLACK where 1 end is connected to the light. From the light again, there are 3 other WHITES (2 from the light + 1 with one end not connected to anything) those 3 WHITES are wired together with a nut and taped very tied at one end. Now I can say, based on that setting, I think there is ONLY one solution which is to connect the loose WHITE (from the 3 of the light) with the WHITE from the wall and the only BLACK left from the light to the BLACK from the wall. So we shouldn't touch to any other wires (connected and taped together). I will reconnect the wires tomorrow and will see if it's like I reasoned. I really hope that you can see what I describe here since I know it's not easy talking without picture. Thank you for replying.

What's wrong if you change everything BUT the light BULB keeps dimming?
@FloridaFamFive Жыл бұрын
Not sure what you mean. Bulbs shouldn't dim at all. Its on or off.
@MBerry-ni6wx Жыл бұрын
After I changed/upgraded my exterior light fixture.. I turned it on and the bulb will go bright then back to dim and back and forth... I changed the bulbs twice. And it didn't do this before changing the fixture. I'm wondering if something isn't catching correctly? I had only two wires coming from the OLD fixture with the ground being within the metal plate (attached within the vinyl siding).... When I put the new fixture on I put the ground wire on the new fixtures green screw plate.. am I suppose to put a cap on it after wrapping it around clockwise and screwing it? Because I didn't and it was to short for that. Maybe that's why it's going in and out?

@@MBerry-ni6wx sounds like you have it set to dim and go bright when you have motion. Is this right?

@@FloridaFamFive there's only two options- high and low. And when I step out of the vicinity -watching from afar, it does this.
