I woke up and one of my fans is making a god awful clicking whirring noise. This is also on a Cintiq Pro 24 DTH-2420. I wrote to Wacom and I'm sure they are going to want $1000 for repair, so it looks like my option is to follow your instructions! Thanks for making this!

As someone who has replaced non-standard fans, yeah, this may be the best approach, especially if it functions without the fans, and you're in a relatively average climate. Even the non-standard fans can be expensive. Not $1,000 worth of expensive, but still expensive. A couple of quick searches also suggests they are hard to find. Though they kind of look like some laptop fans I've seen, so you might be able to get away with replacing them with such. Still, with all the wiring, probably too risky.

How about if you disconnect only two instead of all three? Which ones would you disconnect, in your opinion? Thanks for the awesome video!

The way it is set up, there are two intake fans that suck air into the cintiq, and then there are two that blow it out (exhaust). If you are going to only disconnect some fans, your better choice is to leave 1 intake and 1 exhaust functioning. I'd read up on negative vs positive airflow and pressure if I was deciding how many intake vs exhaust fans to keep alive.

Yeah, the Cintiq can be used without connecting it to a computer so long as you charge it beforehand.

Yes. There's a couple reasons. 1. The optional whole computer attachment 2. 4K resolution generates more heat 3. On fanless tablets people complained about the screen being too hot

Cintiq: Costs 2-4k Euros Wacom: Let's put the cheapest possible fans inside! Instead of these lame generic laptop fans they should have used wide scoop (fewer but wider blades and lower) rpm fans, those would scoop out so much more heat on top of being quiet. People are complaining about them and always will, yet they won't sacrifice few dollars extra for a satisfied user base. I mean they could even bump up the price by 50 if that'll make both sides happy. Or just learn how to dissipate heat properly and go fan-less.
