Once a muslim challenged me in a facebook page about the "troublesome" Mark 16:8. Indonesian bible uses the long ending for verse 8, but still include verse 9-20. So verse 8 is different from the KJV. He claimed that's the proof for the corruption of the bible, at least the Indonesian bible, and felt victorious for pointing out the difference between KJV and Indonesian bible Then I explained to him about manuscripts and textual criticism and the source for Mark 16:8 in Indonesian bible. Then I jumped to textual criticism of the quran and asked him about the differences between hafs and warsh. He didn't know anything about it and fled from the debate

How is saying that Jesus or Allah exist and that they created universe in 6 or 7 days blah blah blah. No evidence, no proof, just simple faith. It's wrong and that thinking is very limiting. I'm no evangelist. I'll tell you right now, anybody with a simple understanding of critical thinking would be able to analyze the Quranic history and linguistic aspect too. They will always come to conclusion that this book isn't a God made book, and that there could have been multiple authors and/or compiled horribly. The bible isn't free from error too. The bible is incoherent too. Rambling go on forever, only reason why they get a pass is because it wasn't written by Jesus. There comes another issue. The new testament wasn't written during the time Jesus but after is crucifixion. This is the same issue the Quran faced. Honestly, this Jay Smith guy did great work researching errors in the Quran but it's very ironic for him to call out problems of that book when the bible itself has problems too. It would explain why there is a crescent and a star on many Islamic flags. The only wonder here is scientific. The moon exists. It's a truth and each of us can check it. This truth is not the entire story of the moon. One can spend his life about it without getting it all. The moon is a simple object to consider when it's compared with the entire universe and the human history.

One of the things I would like to understand is your views on Ali. You see Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) could not read or write and every ayat that was revealed to him was eventually consulted with Ali who became the proof reader. Omitting Ali from these long discussions is like omitting vishwamitra from critically analyzing the gayathri mantra of rig veda. Vedas were also revealed as an example and for the longest time they were memorized as hyms. Similarly the earlier recitation after revelation of the verses and proof read by Ali was then memorized by people. Can you also present the examples of actual verses you see differing in the versions of quran you claim are in circulation. We would highly appreciated some clarification on these points. For the record, I am neither Muslim nor Christian, I am still 'shopping' for a religion but like to do my own research. Thank you kindly

@JhgffjPoubelle Жыл бұрын
Not changing the meanings, overall (see "Sanaa manuscripts" for a good example) But many consider it has not changed in the slightest form. Not a single word. Mostly either rewording, or little changes in phrasings. Sorry i cannot give proper examples (see Sanaa) The fact that even implying it has changed / has many variations can lead to death penalties in many countries, making people not even thinking about studying it. Ex. Some students from North Africa must come to France to study the historicity of the hadith, otherwise they are prevented from studying and risk jailtime. Do not seek those studies from muslim countries. AND be careful when learning from Christians ! Mr Jay Smith being a religious apologetic machine ! He will dig deep but focus on his religion being the one and only. You have a lot of reading to do, enjoy learning arameic, latin, arabic, syriac... :)

Not that I would expect otherwise but some people need these things spelled out. Hey, you still don't need to think that he was a prophet just because he existed. I wouldn't. Plenty of false prophets were undoubtedly real people.

The supposed savior of souls of Christians, was just the most "recent" savior-myth story. Example as follows, from the book, and please note how Chrishna was spelled, before the Christians came up with the word Christ, and how the Hindus then changed the spelling of their supposed savior to "Krishna." The World’s Sixteen Crucified Saviors … Christianity before Christ, by Kersey Graves … first published in 1875. and finally these twenty Jesus Christs (accepting their character for the name) laid the foundation for the salvation of the world, and ascended back to heaven. 1. Chrishna of Hindostan. 2. Budha Sakia of India. 3. Salivahana of Bermuda 4. Zulis, or Zhule, also Osiris and Orus, of Egypt. 5. Odin of the Scandinavians. 6. Crite of Chaldea. 7. Zoroaster and Mithra of Persia. 8. Baal and Taut, “the only Begotten of God,” of Phenicia. 9. Indra of Thibet. 10. Bali of Afghanistan. 11. Jao of Nepaul. 12. Wittoa of the Bilingonese. 13. Thammuz of Syria. 14. Atys of Phrygia. 15. Xamolxis of Thrace. 16. Zoar of the Bonzes. 17. Adad of Assyria. 18. Deva Tat,aud Sammonocadam of Siam. 19. Alcides of Thebes. 20. Mikado of the Sintoos. 21. Beddru of Japan. 22. Hesus or Eros, and Bremrillah, of the Druids. 23. Thor, son of Odin, of the Gauls. 24. Cadmus of Greece. 25. Hil and Feta of the Mandaites. 26. Gentaut and Quexalcote of Mexico. 27. Universal Monarch of the Sibyls. 28. Ischy of the Island of Formosa. 29. Divine teacher of Plato. 30. Holy One of xaca. 31. Fohi and Tien of China. 32. Adonis, son of the virgin Io of Greece. 33. Ision and Quirinus of Rome. 34. Prometheus of Caucasus. 35. Mohammud, or Mahomet, of Arabia. These have all received divine honors, have nearly all been worshiped as Gods, or sons of Gods; were mostly incarnated as Christs, Saviors, Messiahs, or Mediators; not a few of them were reputedly born of virgins; some of them filling a character almost identical with that ascribed by the Christian’s bible to Jesus Christ; many of them like him, are reported crucified; and all of them, taken together, furnish a prototype and parallel for nearly every important incident and wonder-inciting miracle, doctrine and precept recorded in the New Testament, of the Christian’s Savior. Surely, with so many Saviors the world cannot, or should not, be lost.

My Grandparents were christians, and Roman Catholic, I have Muslim relations, in fact Sunni and Sufi, Buddhist relations and even Hindu relations! Not once have I ever read such insulting and derogatory comments about a holy book! Whether or not you believe in the Quran or, from what I have seen in the comments think all Muslims are evil who want to get rid of " unbelievers" then, you are caught in a primitive mode of " My way or the highway", Truly, I never expected to see such malicious and even sarcastic commentary about a religion. Regardless of who you are trying to convince, let me assure you, if these comments are anything to go by you should all be ashamed of the things you say about othere peoples religions. What on this planet full of diverse and wonderful creations, colurs, religions, races and traditions gives you the right to call people followers of demonic writings?? Who appointed you as teachers? All I have seen here is a lot of self important comments about how , only Christianity is the right path. Then, for the love of GOD be kinder and less self important. Stop mocking a Book that, a lot of very very very good people believe in. Like my Grandmother who prayed 5 times a day, who never bad mouthed others and who, saw everyone as equal. And Please, if you need to have an intellectual and non biased discussion about Islam , no need to laugh at us, or pretend you know more than we do. You are human beings as well. It is hurtful to read comments that accuse Islam of being some evil cult and only Christianity can save us. Then, learn some manners and demonstrate you really are a patient and kind religion. Just beyond belief what I have to read. I actually subscribed to this channel to enjoy a friendly discussion. Instead I get condescending remarks trying to analyse me and my upbringing ! And we are insulted when you degrade Jesus to a mere prophet. Patience and kindness don't always work with most muslims. I would prefer a calm scholarly debate like you do but you have to understand that we get insulted a lot by muslims too. From the experiences of these Christian apologists, they found that being kind and reasonable would only usually make a muslim think they're weak. And look at it from our standpoint; we truly believe that we can only be saved through Jesus Christ. We believe that islam will lead you to hell. Don't you think it's love, however harsh it may seem, that we're doing all we can to lead you out of a path that will lead you to destruction? For so many years of calm conversations, we found that we can't get through most muslims because they are heavily indoctrinated from birth. The only way to get their attention is sadly through insults. But mere insults are not enough, proper use of apologetics and polemics is important as well. I also disaprove of my fellow Christians who insult without proper rebuttals to islamic teachings. We are all sinful people so you can't expect all Christians to be perfect. If you, on the other hand, believe islam is the way to God, then you should do all you can to lead us into it. Otherwise, we'll keep believing Jesus is our Lord and Savior and eventually end up in hell. If you care about us, convince us that islam is the truth and not Christianity.
