Thanks for that presentation. I love the way Dr Jay ended with the Gospel... that our basis - being a disciple of Jesus - is not relying on the book, rather the Logos. Although it has become popular in certain groups in America to claim that they are more "inerrant" than anyone else... bragging rights, if you will. How childish; how ignorant! Most of the Christians I know have no idea of how the Bible came to be and blindly believe whatever they have been taught in church. You will fall for anything if you lose your focus, which better be the Son of God and His saving power... His grace and the redemption that we can enjoy in our eternal, unchanging, Savior that came from heaven and died that we shall live eternally. Thank you ICMDA and Dr Jay Smith.

If you take all the parts of the Quran which have same content as christian writings, jewish writings and arabic writings before Mohammed, not many words of the Quran are left.

From recent lexical analysis of the quranic text it appears that what is referred to as "muhammad" in the quran (which means "the praised one") is not a name but a title which refers to Jesus, as the prophet and messiah. So early muslims in the quran (not yet called muslims but "mumineen" ie. " believers") were in fact anti-trinitarian christians who accepted Jesus as revered prophet and messiah but rejected his divine nature (this is why Jesus is always called "Issa ibn Meryam" ie "Jesus son of Mary" in the quran, but never "son of God")

The Bible texts are humans best reflection of what God reveled to them over time. In is inspired that way. It is supposed to contain the idosynchracies of the people who received it. That is the only way to reveal anything, through a lens. We are stuck with an eternal wrestling with God through this process. This is why God's people are called Israel. But it is not a word for word dictation of direct truths, sentence for sentence. As an example, psalms obviously contain actual thought of actual people. Their worth is precisely that they are free form expression of all the different ways people can experience their relationship with God. If they are taken as a statement from God to us directly about doctrine, they loose all their value. They are perhaps inerrant in communicating what some ancient person felt, which is integral to have a cross time discussion about. But what he felt and thought is not necessarily just pure theology material. When we read it, that reflection of people helps us notice how God reveals himself in OUR everyday lives. Of course there are also things which form doctrine in there, and things captured clear enough to agree on. But we are precisely not supposed to all come to the same conclusions about everything in the Bible. And even more important, not the same experience of God. This is part of how it works. This insistence of letter for letter inerrancy is the death of relationship with God, it IS the fall, it is what results in things like Islam.

What contradictions? But to make sure we stay on point. The Muslim faith is built upon the foundation of eternal, sent down, complete, and unchanged. The Christian faith is built upon what Jesus accomplished, so our manuscript differences do not destroy our faith because our faith is not built on such a foundation. Muslims are claiming something for themselves that Christians know is impossible to claim

How I earnestly wish that there is now an ORIGINAL ARAMAIC GOSPEL because I am dying inside to read it. I hope there is a translation in English. It's hard to read it in its original form in Aramaic. I don't know that language. I think Aramaic is much harder to read than Arabic. I believe that this Gospel is a book of spiritual guidance from God. Unlike the 4 make-believe gospels, their contents are purely biographies of Prophet jESUs (pbuh) but with a huge hole in the accounts of his life covering the primetime of his age. From what museum or library can we find the original ARAMAIC GOSPEL? Is there any original manuscript for it? I am urging Jay Smith and his cohorts to produce that book as soon as possible so that Muslims and Christians alike will be enlightened. -08-14-23
