People need to understand this was not a "performance" for accolades. This was a tribute from a grieving mother to her deceased daughter. If you’ve never been to a black American Church and heard an elder soprano sing live, especially during a funeral, you may not understand how moving such an experience is. While the voice is raspier and not the same as when they were in their twenties, the life that they’ve lived makes up for all of that. And oh what a life Sissy Houston lived. This is a beautiful tribute to your daughter, your granddaughter and now to you.

Let's start with the Queen Of Soul Ms. Aretha L. Franklin's "Ain't No Way" the entire album. The long note being held in the background is non other than Mrs. Cissy Houston. So, paying tribute to only daughter at her age is absolutely beautiful considering the circumstances.

I had no idea how good this lady was, her soprano backup for so many, is absolutely gorgeous, her range, control, inflection, true perfection.. As a soprano, I have always been frustrated, that the only way to make a living outside of Opera, for those who's best voice is in the upper range, were and still are forced to sing in alto range, which often, to me sounds more like shouting. As a young women I was regularly relegated to ohs and ahs rather than words, When I found a small group where I got to sing WORDS, I was thrilled. Still singing today at 82, and described as the lady who sings in the stratosphere. Now I just smile, the joy of making music is enough.

Mama still got it! I wonder if Whitney's death has changed the road to many of those following that drug addicted road. Such a total waste if not. A great loss to us all, so sad to see the last few years of her trying to cope end in tragedy. Please if you even think about taking a drug, watch all of the Whitney downloads on here, and rethink your decision, because after the first time, come others and your life will change and never be your own again. For anyone who thinks Cissy can't sing, listen to her background high notes on Aretha Franklins "Ain't no way" (it's a early B&W cover)... She will knock your sox's off. I don't know how after loosing her daughter like that, that she was even able to get one note out. My hats off to her and her strength at that terrible time in her life.

Applepiebetty This is a stellar performance from a strong and living mother. You could feel the pain in her voice. My cousin became a meth addict. His mind is too far gone. It's tough to know the person you've always cherished will never be the same.

Brilliant moving performance - especially for someone of her age and in those circumstances - true Gospel performance and obviously such an inspiration to Whitney. - Haters gonna hate - especially when they have no soul and don't know what they're talking about!

CISSSY IS BADDDDD she sang that song from her heart and everybody felt that. She was grieving as well. When you can stand on a stage and affect hundreds of people in 1 room by just singing that’s how you kno you anointed ❗️

It’s 2020 and listening to her sing this still affects me as if it’s my first time hearing it. If this doesn’t move you, something is seriously wrong with your brain’s limbic system!😥
