There is always something so special about a "seasoned" woman's wisdom. Cissy reminds me of all the proud, strong, wise matriarchs (aunts, mothers, grandmoms, and ladies of the community) who always knew what to say to help you keep it together, when you are falling apart. Such a treasure they are to all of us.

Cissy was a Damn good mother! When we become adults some tend to veer away from our respective upbringing, and do our own thing, because WE'RE GROWN, and can do what WE WANT, not thinking of the outcome. Cissy knew what she had in Whitney and did not want to see that tarnished or wasted. As a parent you do your best to guide your children in the right direction and once they get of age, it's up to them to follow those things or not. I have so much love and respect for Cissy, and I truly understand. There's NOTHING like a mothers love.
@ManifestedSonofTheMostHigh23
@ManifestedSonofTheMostHigh23 9 жыл бұрын
And it could also very well be a *mother's venom* when the "love" is handed down in the form of serious control. Control to the point where the child feels restricted, depressed and repressed. Let's say Whitney actually was gay or bi and she loved Robin. Cissy said point blank and the period she was NOT having it. I personally know several people who for fear of displeasing their parents turned to hard core substance abuse to deal with the pain and fear of losing relationship with their parents. I am not saying that this was exactly what happened here but something had Nippy damn unhappy that she had to get blasted out of her mind like that for all of those years in order to deal with the anguish she was going through. An anguish she should have been able to express and share with her mother without fear of reprisal. Now if that is a "mother's love" that will wind up making me miserable inside she can miss me with that.

Ive followed this famlies story so many things come to mind...first thing is my grand dad told me if you listen you will get it. Everyones yelling poor cissy..aint a dam thing poor about cissy...my moma didnt raise me in the projects but ms cissy has no moral all she has done is run bobby down ..I looked at an interview done by one of whitneys friends who said whitney was an addict before she met bobby.whitney apparently introduced bobby to drugs. Not saying he is pefect but your. Daughters problems apparently started at home with you. My mother taught me real women do real things..what im saying be a real woman and admit you are wrong. you knew your son raped whitney and you covered it up by semding her to boarding school amd you took the child she had away from her and gave it away..as a previous molestation victim i can say you messed up whitney long before bobby or the world got to her.. You 'and those. Bastards you raised in which you call your sons..then you had the nerve to do that interview with your. Son he admitted he gave whitney drugs-got her hooked on them you sat there petting his knee in that time you shold have been telling b brown and his family you were sorry . because the insauits and the disrespect you have showed him over the years is not only insaulting to him but the woman who raised him his mother.. Im sure she worked hard and did the best she cnuld. you should be ashamed of yourself. Fyi just because you call yourself a christian doesnt make you one.the same son. Who raped whitney raped her daughter while she was in your care not once but twice .seems. Like to me ms cissy you have alot of crosses to bare..when your. Daughter decided she was gay she couldnt have tgat e you clve davis and all aint no good a mothers place is beside her daughter ..she aint in the ground a year and pat selling off her clothes ..you people are scandlous .ms cissy there is a specail place in hell, for you.when you start to talk about people sweep around y our door first ..pat leola right about you, clothes dont change who you are words that come to mind when i think of you nc gutter trash the way your step son recorded you talking abovt whitney and her daughter smh. couldnt find your own husband so you took someone elses...like i said home wrecker and straight nc gutter trash,you aint no better than nobody else.im glad god took whitney and her daughter so yall could no. Longer sponge of them.yall were in a position to help them but you did i pray you and your dauhter someday know whitney and her daughters pain

hi...While it may be too much, I just have a question: When did Whitney turn the world against Bobby? Whitney never said WHO introduced her to drugs. all she said was that she made her own choices, her own decisions and she did what she wanted to do. if ANYBODY turned the world against Bobby, it was BOBBY: multiple arrests, multiple illegitimate kids/baby mommas, raunchy behavior, and yes the mistreatment of Whitney. the public turned on him LONG BEFORE they knew of the spitting incident.

Read a book from Robyn Crawford called A song for you. I honestly think Cissy was really hard as a mother and that’s why Whitney was very submissive to men. Robyns mother called Cissy saying their daughters do cocaine and Cissy laughed about it and even mocked her. She knew it, yet after she told Robyn that if you don’t agree with what Whit wants then you’re out of the circle - meaning no money. It’s sad but she’s part to blame. They all used her money.
@Wickedfun96
@Wickedfun96 14 күн бұрын
Incorrect! Robyn was the only person in her life that truly had her best interests at heart! She dabbled in drugs initially with Whitney before her career took off but when it did Robyn said to Whitney “Ya know we said this can’t come with us where we’re going and yet we’re here and it’s still here” and Whitney responded with “I know but I’m not ready to stop”. Robyn was the person who was keeping Whitney together, the only one who could get her out of bed, the only one she’d listen to. When Robyn left in 1999, Whitney fell apart at the seems at the seems and it’s evident watching performances before 1999 vs after. Robyn tried desperately to save Whitney from herself but Whitney unfortunately was the only one who could save her
@patshelton3712

She was so right about the timing. Whitney wasn't ready to get out. Her mom has a lot of dignity and self respect. She is also a true believer in her God. She raised her children in the church. Whitney loved her mom but doesn't hesitate to say," she was hard on her." Everything had to be perfect. Sissy a well known and paid back up singer didn't make it big herself. So her dreams were thru her daughter. But times had changed, in Hollywood being gay or lesbian was excepted in the inner circles, but not in the public's eyes. Sissy said, " she had no problem with Robin being in Whitney's life," I doubt if that is true. She wanted a perfect daughter, Whitney didn't want to be perfect, she just wanted to be herself. She didn't even know what herself was beyond a famous Diva. Drugs such as cocaine grabbed her, and wouldn't let go. I've never used, but I have close relatives who has and still use. They aren't young anymore either. Hitting 60 and still hitting the crack pipe when they get money in their hands. I would hate to know they got their hands on big money. Probably OD on the stuff. Sad! It really is. Cause like nobody knew the damage of the drug in the eighties. It was introduced and very acceptable in the entertainment buisiness. More it's meth and heroin. Heroin over doses everyday. How can we stop this madness when they're legalizing all this poison?

Bobby was easier to control and manipulate than any other man. . .or Robyn. He wanted to be bad. He wanted to be in the limelight, and she could give him those things. This is difficult to watch. Reflecting on my own addiction to prescription painkillers makes me feel so sad for her and what drugs can do. Addiction is very hard because the user has absolutely no faith in his/her ability to function without the drug. It’s so easy to get caught up. I grew up around street drugs such as marijuana and cocaine so I knew to never touch that stuff. I experienced what those drugs can do to families and how they can ruin lives but I STILL got caught up.

I think towards the end Bobby had built up a lot of resentment towards Whitney. If you think about it he had been judged and found guilty by the court of public opinion, family, friends etc as being the one who made Whitney a drug addict and he let it play out to protect her image. Now what he did was dead wrong but I think that came from some deep rooted anger he was nursing.

Whether Bobby did that remains a mystery. When someone gets married, they become one, and that becomes no different in the case of Bobby and Whitney. If he brought her down, that was what they needed to fix. Whitney and Bobby both had their problems, but all Cissy was trying to say is that you can't put two people together who both have similar problems, or else they will become more "destructive." But in the end Whitney loved Bobby and Bobby loved Whitney. And that is that.

@@TeAnnaScott No, Bobby's autobiographical film tried to blame Whitney and Robyn for all their problems. And no, Whitney wasn't playing innocent here. She said that she did drugs. She owned up to her addictions, which Bobby has not, and she didn't blame Bobby. She talked about what he did to her, like spitting on her, but I guess that's all her fault too? No matter how much you Bobby shills and Whitney haters try to paint Bobby as this innocent character, the vast majority of us know the truth which is that Bobby was no angel.

I don't think I understand the legalities of the "junction". How was Cissy able to legally force her grown daughter (well over the age to make legal decisions on her own) to either go to rehab or retire? When her mother said your gonna go on TV and "retire" did she mean "retire" from her job or is there another meaning for retire in the legal terms?

I guess she believed that her daughter was perfect and couldn't do no wrong but I guess that's how all parents see it but they need to reconcile their differences because at the end of the day Cissy has lost her daughter and Bobby has lost his daughter he had with the woman he loves. It'll be a shame if they go the grave not making peace.

She never said she was a great mother, her book makes that clear that she definitely second guesses the way she brought them up. She takes blame for sheltering and spoiling her kids to the point where when they became adults in the world they got caught up. Her book is very honest, she's promoting, so she wasn't going to divulge everything.

hello...so where exactly in the 2009 interview did she blame Bobby for her addiction?
@alexanderhall2720
@alexanderhall2720 4 жыл бұрын
It's not there. She didn't blame Bobby for her addiction. It's the Bobby Brown fans/anti-Whitney haters who are pushing that narrative because they don't want to hold Bobby personally responsible for his actions and behaviors. They'd rather take the cowardly way out and blame all of his problems on the woman.

never having tried drugs, i just don't understand. What i think i do though is empathize w/any type of so called addiction or struggle. in life so many of us have them. I remember Luther Vandross said that his drug of choice was food. I can say the same thing although I am not obese, on a weight rollercoaster or have medical diagnosis due to weight/food issues. what i don't try to do is make excuses for my poor eating habits. it will more than likely catch up w/me & i will be to blame.

Yes, Sweetwaters on Amsterdam! Actually, I first saw WH and her Mom at Kenny's Castaways in 1980. I wasn't of legal drinking age but I still got in the club! The drugs were within that family LONG before WH's fame. Going to those shows & being in the industry, I got to observe many things about Cissy during that period. She is not being totally honest in this interview.

Bobby wasn't the reason Whitney got on drugs she loved to party her career kept her busy and she hardly had time to relax and enjoy her fortune before she met Bobby, She choose Bobby like she said in an interview nobody can make her do what she don't want to do so drugs is what she wanted to do.
@alexanderhall2720
@alexanderhall2720 4 жыл бұрын
...and Bobby did what he wanted to do, which was for the most part the same things Whitney wanted, except Whitney was smart enough to stay out of jail and not get into constant physical altercations and not constantly end up in court. Drugs isn't necessarily what people want to do clearly you've never dealt with anyone who's ever had a drug addiction because addictions are notoriously difficult to escape from, especially if you're a public figure on the level Whitney was. It's hard enough to fight addiction in private but having to fight it in the public arena with all the spotlights on you and the paparazzi following you're every move makes it so much more difficult. It's easy for Whitney-haters like you to sit behind a computer screen and make judgments about Whitney and try to act like you know what she wanted but you weren't there. You don't know what she tried to do to get help and how much she struggled with her addictions. Social media judges like you are a big part of the problem. No, Bobby didn't initially introduce Whitney to drugs but he damned sure enabled it and didn't seem to have any problems with using with her.

You guys still don't seem to understand that Bobby was her husband and what that means should be far more than any can express. I don't think that many people understand what marrying someone means. It isn't just papers being signed that says you are legally in a relationship; beyond all of that is suppose to be love and uplifting. No matter how much you deny it Bobby was Whitney's husband. His job was to uplift her, not take her down more than she already was.
