I hear Whitney all in Mama Cissy’s voice. Her throat was soar here, but if you listen to her original version. She rips this song to pieces. Mama Cissy had a powerful and beautiful voice. Whitney’s voice was a younger replica of her mother’s voice. Now I know where Whitney got that powerhouse voice and singing style from. I’m giving Cissy Houston her flowers while she can still smell them.❤

Lets Really Take Notes Then : why her career never went anywhere...she introduced Whitney to Clive , basically saying handed her over to the industry....living her non singing career through Whitney's Life...in the beginning... ( #ALLEGEDLY ) Heard John Houston, was that man back in the days....

She was actually sick that night, but she still did it, I'll read it in her autobiography, not the one about Whitney Houston, the one she wrote about her own life, in 1998, but what's so crazy is, people don't realize how much Whitney learned from her mom, and studied her mom, because this is in the 70s during the Disco era, and that's the same type of wig, and look Whitney will use, during her I'm Your Baby Tonight tour

Her normal singing voice reminds me of Mavis Staples & higher notes of her daughter "The Voice" aka Whitney Houston.😳 5:40 Is that THE great Donny Hathaway?! 10:00 Is that a 🆕 whistle register that is almost _invisible_ to the ears!?😅 10:23-10:26 Those selections wore her out. I wonder where the uploader got this footage from.🤭 13:05-13:13 (bows as if the song isn't finished then walks back to return for a curtain call) She had 2 go back & get a drink of water. With the extra leftover seconds to sip some tea.🍵 _still ended it on a good note, pun intended_ 😁

Yes. I also don't think that they are alike directly, but at second look, they are similar. Whitney has Cissy siluette only Cissy is not that thin. That other lady has a different siluette. Plus the tone of the voice is similar, of course, not the same.

At 😊 Cissy hits that rift and run when ending "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother," look at how very close she resembles Whitney. Whoever created that LIE, saying Whitney could ever possibly be some other woman's child, should be ashamed.

She has a voice better than 90% of singers today. Including Mary J. bilge and Alicia keys, who also have Smokey voices. However her delivery performance wise is lackluster. She could have moved a little or had some dancers. Lol
@JudahCub1981
@JudahCub1981 Жыл бұрын
She was gospel singer most of her childhood and into her early adult years. So if you notice, although she is singing pop music she still conducted herself like “a church singer”. A lot of the gospel singers who came out of the Baptist Church or similar denominations, who crossed over to secular music, tended to have a rather reserved stage presence. Most of the wilder soul singers had Pentecostal or Charismatic church backgrounds.

She's pitchy as heck. I can understand why she was never as big as her daughter. And true, she had a horrible choice of songs. Still her delivery of them is just a horrible as the songs themselves. Horrible + horrible = HORRIBLE!! Should have just stuck to background singing. Harmonizing is more her Forte.
