I worked hard making this video, but I know I can improve it. I have a lot of ideas about how I would do that, but I'd also love honest feedback from anyone that watches, let me know what you want to see in Battle Reports! Also, I can't keep putting Cities of Sigmar VS Seraphon videos up, so until David and I finish our second armies or I get out and play a new opponent, I likely won't put another battle report up for a bit. I do plan to continue having videos where I talk tactics and use the battle map that I created to illustrate what I am talking about.

The best part of this series that I have seen is that you are identifying the errors in the lessons learned section and seeing the solution that would improve the match. Much like the last game, Age of Sigmar can be won or lost in deployment. If I had to guess, the next part of the game that is going to come up is value trading for position or tempo, since that usually comes after getting a good grasp on deployment. Look forward to seeing you get better and better!

Keep em coming! You’re doing great learning and these videos are coming out great! Your strategy of not changing lists much and practicing with what you have is a great one. Thanks for the content

Really appreciate it Oliver! I might do some minor list tweaking but I think the main thing that needs to change is how I deploy and play Turn 1!

Another great video! I wish I could comment more on your tactics, but the layout of the map has definitely improved. Though I think that the empty space below your head in the tactical overview could *maybe* be used to have sections for "units in reserve/deep strike" and "destroyed units" or even a scoreboard, so you can track victory points across the roundsas you cover them. But I aknowledge the possibility that doing that might make things look a little bit cluttered or congested on screen. But I definitely think that allocating space for terrain on the overview itself would greatly help with readability. Since that helps us, the viewers get a better grasp on why some units are positioned where they are. But that's just my take. Hopefully the next game will be a victory for the Cities! Side Note: You mentioned in this or the last battle report video how much you loved the Pontifex. If you read the Dawnbringers books, or even bits about her in the Cities Battletome, you'd know just how frightening she truly is in the lore.

@@mysidia Oh yeah, the implication that she compells or brainwashes people into her service is exremely scary imo. Especially when you examine her ideology of "The Great Wheel" being a metaphor of "civilization" and/or "progress" and that it is something that people must act as "grit" for so it can keep turning. That amount of detachment and the implications it represent are terrifyingly dystopian.

Great Video! Loving the map overlay and I agree that adding terrain is huge! I'm an avid Cities player and I just wanted to toss out there that with C&T in your list, you ALWAYS have a turn 1 tactic. They're also 2 units, they can seize the center if you want and they can be very hard to remove. Toll's Companions can also be hit by the brazier for that revive potential if needed. Looking at this terrain layout, you could also have done a Take Their Land pretty easily. Combined, C&T+T'sC have a pretty good control score and you could have probably picked either terrain feature in the backline to steal as yours for a tactic. You can also look at doing a cheeky Reclaim the Realms with them turn 1 and put them both down just over the center line in the back field of your opponent's zone if there's room! They're also good for Attack on Two Fronts (again, good control score and the ability to pick your moment to play them down. Snag a weakly held objective from your opponent and then one other point of your choice with something like Cavs. A couple other points that I wanted to mention! Be wary of screening your cavs in deployment with Steelhelms. If you can't get them out of the way on your turn, they could body block you and then even that big 3d6 charge might not be enough to get them out and around for some good damage. Wheeling around your own units can really eat your movement! I'd also be wary of using Fusiliers as an anvil. They can be surprisingly tanky, as you say, but their shooting is also much reduced and they do basically no dmg in CC. Wiser IMO to throw Steelhelms in front to absorb the charge. Remember that redeploy can also be used to move forwards! If you don't think you can redeploy back far enough to make the charge fail, you can try redeploying INTO their army (outside 3" obv) in order to reduce how close they can get to you after they charge&kill the unit. If they're going to kill you either way, make sure it's as far away from your gun line as possible! Lastly, remember to always keep C&T + T'sC within combat range of each other. Even if you have to trail the unit back somewhat and not move all of them the full charge distance. Or possibly save a redeploy to try and fix that. If those Aggradons got in on them while they were separated, they're easy pickings! Very powerful tool that you don't want to lose! Thanks again for the video and I look forward to the next one!

I need to look out for that T1 Callis and Toll tactic, the idea hadn't crossed my mind! I do think about how I might be screening my own Cavaliers quite a bit, it was the biggest thing that I couldn't wrap my head around when I first started planning strategies for games. I couldn't find any good advice online for how to set up a screen and cavalry, when I figure it out or see it done properly I'd like to make a video on it to help other new players like myself that can't conceptualize it. Regarding the Fusilier Anvil, I agree, but at a certain point in the game, if they become a tar pit I don't mind if it ties up some enemy forces. Love the advice about moving forwards with redeploy, also hadn't considered that! Thanks for all the advice, hopefully I can put it all into practice soon :D

@mysidia glad it was helpful advice! Looking forward to the next video! For screening your cavs, what I've done in the past is deployed my cavs back and to the side of the screen. Back enough that a redeploy if necessary will put the screen exactly where you need it, but because they're already a little to the side, they won't move block you as much. Agree on the fusiliers. Late game your asset options are more limited and they ARE more durable than you'd think. I just caution it as a "Plan A" strategy. Feels like more of a "Plan C"

Great report dude, was a fun game. Learned again so more, especially from watching your perspective. I was really choked about myself letting you get your cavaliers open on the aggradons, and if I could restarted, I would have traded sides and just moved down with the raptadons and then attacks Toll's companions using the aggradaons and scar vet. And also, looking at your potential charge, even with the lancers gone, youd still be stuck against my Ark of Sotek and Skink oracle, and I don't hate it! Great match, really have to set reminders for myself as you suggested! Also, don't worry, I muted and tabbed out when I saw the bookmarks of your strategies!

Great batrep and wonderful format. These dice were wild this match, geez. Also, I don't think you need to be more accurate with moving the blocks in the strategical view in the future. The way you did it in this video gives a clear and good overview of what is happening and there shouldn't be anyone moping on you not representing stuff accurately on the decimal (will probably also save you some work haha). Hope you will keep these coming with the once per month AoS matches you are planning on playing :)

@@mysidia Currently hosting a PtG campaign, 4 months in, and it is a wonderful thing for new players to get to know the game and build an army, but also for experienced players to get back to the foundations and build up form there. Hope you will have a great time and I look forward to your ideas!

Great video!!! You did crazy well in the battle too, really good use of the cavalry, holding it back to ensure you can get the charge! Very unlucky on the charges for the Seraphon player :( Did the 2 of you decide on an outcome for the match?

Technically my opponent conceded to me, but I think there was a lot to play for still so it would have been interesting to finish the match off.

Aye mate gg! Looking at your future strats the second one looks great. Or take 3x 10man steel as three screens. The ogre guy maybe missed as his mark buffs melee too now. However, if you feel you aint getting good milage out of shooting, drop him. Saving a cp for fusil cover fire in each enemy turn but i have no idea on their damage vs points. But since you got 20x id lean into them. So if you need more threat range and i mean the ironweld formation adds 3 inches. If you do take the ogre, his mark gives them 1+ to hit. If you take the ballistic master trait on a hero you cam sit by the fusiliers in combat range and give them all out attack thats 1+ hit and 1+ to wound. So if you really dont want the ogress mark +1 hit for for melee, you could just give your marshall the ballistic trait and park him right next to your fusiliers. All out attack on them will be 40x shots with 3/3/1r/1d a pretty great profile that can be kept mostly unharmed.

Oh cool, you actually are playing a fairly similar army to me - i just have a couple different characters in place of Zenestra. In my experience the Seize the Center opener with the sacrificial steelhelms is actually not too bad versus the really fast armies (Im talking Slaanesh, heavy fast cav lists, daughters of khaine) because it allows you to push out a screen. Its slower, bruiser-y armies like foot ogres, foot seraphon, ironjawz that you really dont want to do it because youll be giving your opponent a springboard. The ultra fast opponents would be able to get all the way across the board no problem anyway - guiding them to the center and treating them to an extra round of fusilier covering fire is not a bad thing at all.
