I haven't preordered a game in ages, since the golden days of John Bain advocating for consumer rights. Until today, that is. Colossal Order and Paradox's marketing and the prerelease videos from yourself and other creators has given me confidence that the team is focused on delivering the game I've been hoping for. It feels like CO really learned from the list of most popular mods for the original Cities: Skylines to build in quality of life features that everyone can benefit from, regardless of their technical abilities. Rambling aside, I love watching you build cities, YUMBL.

Thanks for the video. It will definitely help me when we all get to play CS2 especially when you explain details like during your interchange build. I liked placing the Mixed Use downtown because that's what so many pre-WWII downtowns look like. I believe Light Commercial usage has a distance component. People don't drive downtown to get milk or gas up their car. A few scattered Light Commercial buildings amongst the sprawl should fix the demand.

I've been playing cities skyline 1 in anticipation for this nr. 2 game. And something that i'm noticing that would be really good and practical to be able to control is: being able to control the available zoning area and if you want zoning on either sides of the road or no zoning at all. Or any of the four options.
@Pystro Жыл бұрын
My game has been giving me that for about half a year or so. It's a small button with "road and zoning squares on both sides" symbol. I don't now if it came with a vanilla update or if it's from fine road tools/anarchy or any of my other mods. Or are you saying that it's a good C:S1 option that would be nice to have in C:S2?
@sapincher Жыл бұрын
There is a mod for exactly that, though I can't tell you exactly what it is because I ended up with it after one of the "Shit, CS updated, how I make it work now?" things. I'm pretty sure it's Zoning Adjuster 1.6 on the workshop.
@Pystro Жыл бұрын

I've seen a lot of people voice concerns that they don't like the season system specifically winter because it makes building harder, but I'm just like, yeah! that's realistic! . You don't see many construction projects during the winter, at least here in Montana lol, so when I play, winter is just going to be a time for me to slow down and really look at my city, watch traffic, see what needs to be improved come springtime. I really like the season system, it feels like it's going to force a different way of playing, in cs1 you could just masterplan your entire city, hit fast forward and let everything grow, giving minor tweaks here and there. Now it seems like it's an environment where you can play much more slowly and intentionally and watch your city grow organically and I'm all for that.
@YUMBL Жыл бұрын
You should be able to see what you’re doing no matter what is happening in the game. Not being able to see is not part of the game or the seasons system.
@Nightshade-dh9fm Жыл бұрын
@@YUMBL is it just the zoning lines you can't see? If so, I'm fine with that because my point was you shouldn't be building in the winter if we're being realistic so you wouldn't need to zone anyway. I also understand realistic isn't always the most fun, so is there a way to toggle seasons? That way those who don't like winter could turn it off. If not, that should definitely be added. Or maybe the lines could change color to give max visibility 🤔

For radio masts 27:30 I've found from other beta streamers that the initial coverage circle does not reflect the radius once placed. They have shown that a mast on higher elevation means increased coverage radius once placed. Also the add on modules help greatly expand the radius too.

Once placed it shows the coverage of the tower you just placed COMBINED with that of a second unplaced tower regardless of elevation.

28:20 I think the tower just needs a bit of empty space around it to have a bigger range, in real life these towers are always in the middle of an empty field in my experience. So I don't think it's about bandwidth being soaked up but the building just needing a bit of empty space to send and receive signals without anything blocking them

Yeah, I can think of a lot of major roads in my city which are residential. As you say, they're mostly old roads... the routes that connected the scattered towns which eventually merged together into a city. Not always old houses, though... these days there's also a fair amount of new-ish mid-density, because people are willing to put up with a bit of noise in exchange for cheap housing with good transit access.

32:22 Wow these lag spikes are brutal and on speed 1 too. No wonder they delayed the game on the consoles. So that we, PC players, could playtest it for them. I see a clear trend nowadays with bad optimization. Every big game this year came out badly optimized and some are still that way.

@teambellavsteamalice Жыл бұрын
How do you do it? You seem to wing everything and just casually add stuff you fancy. Still somehow, it works. I couldn't do that, I'd need to plan and measure everything! But then I'd probably want an utopian version of a city, probably not realism as a priority. And being Dutch and not having or planning to ever have a car, my standards are high! I also like some nifty tricks or patterns and see if they work. I like the idea of arteries and collectors without zoning with streets long them. Ringroads or superblocks are cool too. Left over space, whole strips in between in between big roads might not be very realistic, but I'd definitely plan for future trams, metro and trains.

I am genuinely concerned with non-existing traffic, empty roads. City looks dead. Where I live even a village with 1000 people always have something going on on the roads, and there is always small congestion on the way on to highway. I am not gonna buy thig game if it does not have traffic. Building a galaxy of roads just for zoning is no fun.
