I have had this watch for about 15 years, it never stops working perfectly. I live in the Netherlands so it picks up the atomic signal from Germany. And yes, it should have Sapphire crystal, the only drawback.

i just got a used titanium for really cheap, a non runner but after leaving it under the sun it moves, the second hand ticks but not hitting the mark on point, still need a full recharge, was able to set the time thanks for this great video

You sir are a gifted instructor. Explanations are well delivered and I like how the focus is always on the watch. As for this watch, I love it. Only, I am in the U.S. so it saddens me that if I did purchase it the atomic feature would not function. Is there an equivalent for the American market you can recommend? I would like the slide rule feature.

Thanks for the kind words. As for the alternative, there is the regular Nighthawk, which is only solar, and then there is the "ultimate nighthawk" I mention in the video. That one can sync in the US, but I find it too cluttered

I too would love a Western Hemisphere version of this watch. Until they do, Citizen also offers the Skyhawk, the Navihawk and the beautiful Blue Angels versions. All offer the AT radio control worldwide and have the slide rule bezel. Blue Angels can be gotten for under $300.

Hi, great video. I bought the watch second hand and because it was stored in darkness I just replaced the battery capacitor Panasonic MT920… problem is that the second hand still keeps moving per 2 seconds, I’ve left the watch in the sun for 4 hours and also one night under a bright led. No difference and no reaction when trying to reset. 😢 best regards from Belgium

Got this watch with titanium/sapphire as a gift from my father. Own it many years, top watch. Still wear it with love. I think your not right on Sync. My watch has Titanium/ sapphire but it looks like the right (Japanese) watch in your picture. Not with the orange under the Citizen logo on the display but with "Radio controlled sapphire" instead of "Radio controlled wr 20 bar". It has written Japan on the screwback and syncs very well in Germany/Europe. Thx for explaining.

Solid looking piece with a cool ice blue lume. Lots of details with a nice bracelet clasp. The caseback reminds me of the Omega Speedmaster, engraved and classy. Excellent point at recognizing the time towers. To me, I prefer a sapphire crystal. I can tell you really like it, you might have to add it to your collection when possible.

Hello Watch Geek, I've just found your video on the Citizen Promaster sky ( I guess it's called) . And I used to own a AS 2020 a couple of years back. So after I watched your video I started missing the watch and I found a dealer that still is selling those discontinued models. So I ordered the titanium version. Hopefully it will arrive beginning of next month ......! Then I found a (I guess never version ) Citizen CB 0230-81E titanium and bought that one too which arrived today. So I was wondering if you know how those watches are called ,( something with Skymaster maybe...?) and are there other models in that lineup maybe in between the above mentioned? I've tried to find anything on those pilot watches on the web, unfortunately to no prevail! Can you help with the lineup maybe did a video on that topic like you did with the square g-shock? Such amazing watch and awesome piece of engineering. Represents the word "precision" by itself in a not crazy tons of money. Bravo for Citizen. I love this watch, one of my favorites and you made a video at same level that the watch requieres. So lets say congrats. I have been following this piece since time ago but always with the doubt about the size. I have small wrist (6.3 inches, 16cm) and 44mm watch could be much for me. I found in eBay a seller page which says that the size is 42mm and I'm gonna ask him but I'm pretty sure that has to be a mistake. If this watch is not available in 42mm I´ll try to check how it fits in a physical store and probably will becomes in my next watch as soon as I could. Sorry for my english, and thanks for the nice work done in the video.

Hi, just recently purchased this watch from a friend, specifically the euro titanium version. He sold it to me for $110 because he doesn't know how to set the watch. Just came across to your channel & was very happy i was able to set the watch in no time. Looks cool on an olive green nato strap, like an aviator field watch 😄. One question though, do i still need to set & update the date setting monthly manually again even though i followed everything in your video? Thanks for the very informative channel! +marc suanes firstly congrats on buying such a cool watch for SOOO CHEAP, OT makes me envy you!! Secondly, if you set up the calendar like I showed, with the leap year and month data correctly it will automatically know which month has how many days, so you don't have to correct anything ever again 😊 If you live outside of the coverage area you just need to move it by one hour when there is a switch from summer to winter time and vice versa. +marc suanes no problem, could you check the movement number of the Excalibur, I will look it up, if there is a way to recalibrate the seconds hand, although they mostly don't have the option of calibration in such small increments

+marc suanes ah yes, that's a nice looking watch, it unfortunately doesn't have the calibration option as it is a regular movement, not a "smart" movement like the radio controlled movements, so the only way to fix the issue if it bothers you that much is to have it opened by a watchmaker and have the seconds hand reinstalled, although I would advise against that as some hands are not meant to be taken off and reseated, instead new hands have to be used

This is a very well done review of the Citizen AS2020 Nighthawk Radio-control watch, but the maker of the video review makes an error when he states that the version of the regular Nighthawk watch that has an engraving on the back of the watch case was only available in the European and Asian markets. The version of the regular Nighthawk watch with the engraving on the back of the watch case was available in the USA. Jewelry stores in the USA could order the watch from CitizenUSA in Torrence, California.

The version of the regular Citizen Nighthawk Pilot's watch with the engraving on the back of the watch case was listed in the Citizen Watch Catalog which Citizen provided to fine jewelry stores in the USA, so that version of the Nighthawk Pilot's watch must have been marketed by Citizen in the USA (not just in Europe and Asia) because otherwise it would not have been listed in the Citizen Watch Catalogs provided by CitizenUSA to fine jewelry stores in the United States.

Whatever technique Citizen utilised to etch the back of the watchcase of the regular Promaster Nighthawk watch with the beautiful engraving of the planet Earth image , they did make the engraved version of the Promaster Nighthawk watch available in Citizen catalogs provided to U.S. jewelry stores.

The interesting thing is (and this is not only applicable to Citizen but also to Seiko, Casio and any other major watch manufacturers), watch manufacturers never put all of the most desirable features in one watch for the obvious reasons that (1) to do so would make that watch enormously popular in terms of sales to the detriment of the sales of all their other watches across their product line and (2) if they were to put all of the most desirable features in one model watch, then a watch fan would only purchase 1,2 or 3 of that watch and would never purchase another watch again. Watch manufacturers obviously want watch fans to continue to purchase watches many times into the future so they are not going to give a watch fan all of the features that that fan wants in a watch. The never-ending search for the "perfect" watch is a fruitless, totally elusive endeavor. A perfect example of this business decision by watch manufacturers is the regular (non-radio-control) black Promaster Nighthawk watch. Citizen manufactured two versions of that watch. One version has full-length vivid luminescent blue material on the watch markers, vivid blue luminescent 12 and 6 o'clock numbers and the model name "Nighthawk" on the watch dial. But that version of the watch is only available with a black metal mesh band. The alternate version of that black Promaster Nighthawk watch has the more desirable black metal links band, but has only small vivid blue luminescent square-shaped dots above the watch markers, subdued luminescent blue 12 and 6 o'clock numbers and lacks the model name "Nighthawk" on the watch dial. And the black metal links band unfortunately is probably not interchangeable with the black metal mesh band. I understand completely that watch manufacturers make that decision for obvious business reasons , but it is still frustrating for watch fans that they can never find a watch that has all the features that they are looking for in a watch.

This one has a perpetual calendar meaning you never have to adjust the date, or at least until the year 2100 😄 Your version on the other hand can move the hour hand independently

Brian Donnelly you will have to readjust the date whenever a month has less then 31 days, so let's say on May 1st your watch will display 31st because April has 30 days and your watch always goes to 31 so on May 1. You have to advance the date by one, while the version in the video knows what month it is and whether a year is a leap year meaning it will automatically advance dates to always have an accurate calendar

+Robert Sanchez 95% of solar watches can be brought back to just by placing it in the window sill looking outside for a couple of days, it can sometimes take up to 6 days for it to start working, but don't give up, and let me know if it worked, oh and avoid direct sunlight so it doesn't overheat

That was a rumor started last Fall, when the White House offered its annual budget. But no president can "cut" funding for anything. Budgets (and funding ... ) are done in the Legislative branch of government, not the Executive. Congress agrees on budgets, taking input from the president among other voices and then altering all of it. And they aren't likely to take his recommendation on this, nor a few other issues of his making the news recently.
