Citizen deserves more respect than they generally get in the watch world. Citizen, please give us more sapphire crystal though. Come now! I also don’t understand why more watch manufacturers don’t use solar movements. I love my solar movement watches. They are the practical watch movement to own. Someone please make a sweeping second hand solar movement. In theory it shouldn’t be difficult with the high vibration frequency of quartz watches.

Okay so I just picked this watch up from Kay Jewelers, somehow they had it for $264. I got the blue dial and let me tell you, its incredible. This video really did not capture just how dynamic this dial is, at off angles the texture of the dial actually turns into a bit of a rainbow. Its like a super super subtle mother of pearl effect. The case has a very squat profile, having a 21mm strap, and although the sides are all polished, what you see from the top is all brushed and that combined with the case and lugs actually makes it way more sporty than you would expect. This is definitely one of the best watch purchases I've made of late, highly HIGHLY recommend it. If you have the money, go buy it, you won't regret it. PS Thanks Chris, great find.

Agree on the leaving the eco-drive text out. There have been 4.7 mm watches from Citizen coming in even below this, price wise. Used to be called the Stiletto eco-drive range. Case looks similar. Suratto seems to mean "smoothly" in Japanese.

I have a predecessor of this watch, a Stiletto with a navy blue fan-patterned dial. These watches wear larger than the dimensions imply due to the very small bezel. But man are they thin like you said Chris. I know the Eco Drive One line is even thinner but this is plenty thin enough for most people and way less expensive. I love that denim dial though, it's so well done and so inexpensive to boot.

I'm such a sucker for ultra thin. My VC6099 ultra thin is 5mm, maybe 4.9mm but it's from 1957 and was for a brief moment the thinnest watch in the world, before Piaget did its thing. I will have to get one of these.

I have an old VC UltraThin with the JLC caliber that I dropped. I also have the JLC version that I’ll never wear because of what I did to the aforementioned VC. This or the Stiletto are very tempting.

@_all_around_us 100% Especially on a Quartz (and a Dress type) Watch, the ticking instead of the Sweep, personally just don't find it pleasing, and especially when the Hand misses all the indices. Citizen really have upped their game the past couple of years, released so many Bangers recently.

Not to knock quartz. I appreciate it. But there is something to say about not having that ticking seconds hand that adds a little class. Where on a mechanical I appreciate the seconds hand. And on a dressy watch totally works.

Eco-Drive is the best. I’m a quartz fan as well, Miyota 2115 and Ronda 763’s will last forever. Basic maintenance I can do, battery swaps, and silicone grease on the gaskets every 5-10 years.

Seiko Dolce SACM171 is 5mm and has a thermo compensated high accuracy movement 8j41, 10 secs/year. Also sapphire AR inside, beautiful textured dial, and a diashield steel case. Great watch which I got for around 300 quid a few years ago and will never sell. I actually got his and hers as there's a ladies version available.

There are tons of vintage dolce models too from the 80's to the present that are around 5mm, most with high accuracy quartz movements. And often with tungsten cases and sapphire crystals so they are nearly scratch proof. It's a shame Seiko has mostly discontinued the line except for a couple models, if you look at old catalogues they used to offer them in so many different styles.

Thanks for sharing! This is a very nice piece from Citizen, indeed! Completely agree! I also wish they wouldn't place the "eco drive" -- it would've looked way cleaner for sure. If this would have had a sapphire crystal, I would've definitely purchased it, but I've decided that buying a dress watch that doesn't have sapphire crystal is a deal breaker for me; it doesn't matter if it goes up 100+ dlls. I like that they didn't include a seconds hand. Only thing is I wish the minute hand was a little longer....feels a little short based on the dial size. The dial really is classy. Great dressy watch.

Reminds me of the Seiko Dolce watch (SACM171) with the old Grand Seiko quartz movement in it. It’s 5.3mm thick and the movement is accurate within 10 seconds a year. You can get them new for about $350. The Citizen is Pretty great looking. I just wish they made this smaller. It’s supposed to be a dress watch and to me those should wear small and elegant.

I love thin watches. Most watches are unnecessary thick and heavy these days. I guess that’s where demand is. I have 4.5 mm thin Universal Geneve, it costed me 300 dollars and it’s my most comfortable watch. I may get this Citizen as an alternative.

I presume this replaces the Stiletto in the line up. The Citizen Eco drive One series is the Ultra Thin Watch 1mm movement 3mm cased. The styling of this watch - particularly the octagonal button - reflects the Eco Drive One.

Looks like Citizen have updated their Stiletto range (38mm diameter, 4.5mm thick) from a few years back with new dials... Citizen AR3074-54E - Steel/gold, black dial, bracelet, steel with gold accents Citizen AR3074-03A - Steel/gold, white dial, brown leather strap I got the white dial 03A and still loving it.

Thanks for the review! But have you ever tried exploring an Indian watch brand called Titan. Their EDGE series of watches are ultra thin, for example some are 3.6 mm thin, though I must say they are conventional quartz, ie they are not solar powered. Some of them cost around 150 usd. Their mechanical variant has around 6 mm thickness but it costs a whopping 2500 usd.
