I think papa citizen is ready for his own channel, he did a excellent job describing the difference between torque and cadence sensor. Funny Bryan I just sent you that email talking about the difficulties of riding with non ebikes and keeping pace and papa citizen nailed it. Definitely in the hunt for a torque sensor bike, maybe the Aventon level 2 . But I hear Rad is coming out with some new models out soon, so I am still looking around.

Pop's description of the torque sensor is the best I've heard; riding with others you easily match the speed, in tight areas where you are at full blast but just need a little finesse the torque sensor offers more control. I rode my first ebike the other day, it was a torque sensor, I wanted to go fast so I had to pedal hard (class I no throttle) so I had top pedal hard, my heart was racing, I was sold.

Enjoyed the conversation, thank you. I must say as a lover of e-bikes, specifically e-long tail cargo bikes with lots of upgrades that really push these bikes into the realm of mopeds, that having integrated blinkers is really a nice addition. I would love to see more bike manufacturers like the Aventon adding integrates signal lights.

I'd like to see them get keys or face ID or fingerprint readers that prevent the rear wheel/pedals from turning until activated. I'd also like to see built in GPS trackers.

I really appreciate hearing Papa’s perspective. We’re likely about the same age. That’s was a great point Papa Citizen made about riding a bike with a cadence sensor when you’re riding with people’s who’s bike have a torque sensor. My son and I will go on rides together every so often. I have the Aventon Aventure with a cadence sensor, he has a “Specialized Turbo Creo SL Comp Carbon Evo” (yes that’s the actual name) with a torque sensor. It’s often a challenge for me to match his pace because my bike does have a cadence sensor. Up to 20 mph I can use the throttle to compensate, so that helps. But guess what? He likes riding above that speed so it takes more effort on my part to ride at his pace. You never seem to hear that point made when people are comparing the difference between e-bikes with cadence and torque sensors. Again, great point. 👍 I like e-bikes with cadence sensors myself because of my knee problems. I just wish Aventon would’ve designed the Aventure with a programmable controller. They really dropped the ball on that one. As a long time motorcyclist I prefer right-hand twist throttle but Brian made a good point about using one with a trigger shifter. You do get uses to the left-hand thumb throttle after a while. I don’t think you could go wrong with any one of these three bikes. With that said… I’ve been eyeing the Himiway Cobra “Pro” and would seriously consider buying one if it had full fenders and a rear rack as standard equipment, or even as options anyways. Maybe Himiway can give Brian a Cobra Pro for a full review? I’d also like to see the Biktrix Juggernaut XD tested and reviewed too. Yo Biktrix?

Thanks for Pappas perspective. A suggestion: I have about 10 extra years on Pappa so do also enjoy the cadence sensor and find size is very important, so I went with a non-folding 20" wheel fat tire bike, the Magicycle Ocelot Pro. This was by far the best bike of the 5 I have had in 5 years. The size is perfect for me at 5ft 6in and small frame. This bike or a similar one would probably be an ideal fit for Pappa. As well I like the customizability of settings. Perhaps Pappa could compare a 20in and 26in bike and give his perspective.

Citizen Pops! Torque sensors are king they simulate a normal bikes riding experience w/ oomph if I need it. . I love torque sensors still with my bike (Hyper Scorpion) I can switch to cadence sensor if I choose. But I never use that. My choice here is Aventon note: timed signal is awesome. I wonder if they sell that as an after-market. I’d buy it.

This is a solid video. That thumb throttle is almost a deal breaker for me, but the support for Aventon bikes makes me favor over the Kepler, MagiCycle, the Juiced bikes, the Ride1Up bikes, the HeyBike models, the Lectric line, etc. Just looking for a solid budget ebike.

I don't have an ebike...yet. I am in the market for one and I'm leaning hard towards the Aventure. I'm short and stocky and need the extra stability. I have just one possibly silly question: Are you able to angle the handlebars back at all in case my arm length is too short? It's awful that I want to be outside more and I'm shaped like a Hobbit haha Thanks for your time! (AND A HUGE THANK YOU for all of the unbiased info you've provided!!)

its actually quite easy to use the allen wrench that comes with it and adjust the handlebar and if you choose to you can swap it out at the shop for a fee. The app with Aventon is filled with great stories of happy riders. I am a big fan of mine and definitely suggest it .

@18andlikeit
@18andlikeit Жыл бұрын
Personally I think you're wasting money on the Cobra if your mainly on pavement. It's designed more for off road than the street with the extra fat tires and rear suspension. Either of those other two bikes can handle lite trails fine and for less money.

That Aventon should be able to go faster than 20mph with a 750watt motor. Does it have a controller with not enough voltage? Or does it need to be unlocked with the app like many of them do? If it only goes 20 than why waste power, money and weight with a motor you can't full use? I have a 500w that is as heavy(dual batteries, too)goes 29 on the flats so that should for sure do that at least.

Just a message to share my experience with the HIMIWAY ZEBRA. The bike is EU homologated but it is not engraved. Engraving is a European legal obligation. Engraving is required. Me, I did it at Ricobike (30 euros). However, the bike is not of good quality. In appearance, it gives that impression. The only thing you learn with the bike is DIY. In addition, the warranty does not cover labor and for spare parts you have to bring several videos or photos and pay each time the delivery costs (Between 19 and 30 euros) without counting that you have to pay 99 euros for security deposit if it is the controller or the motor. Me, my engine broke down after 76 km. I had to change the bottom bracket sensor and the controller. If you want to DIY this is the right bike. On the other hand, if you want to ride a bike, you have to go your way. Bike to flee. Finally, the company spends its time cleaning up negative reviews on social networks and facebook. Good luck, if you've already purchased it.

I had a little trouble getting this delivered kzbin.infoUgkxn_jUDSlprMIeubd9rHdEAnv59nKfjcKv and eventually had to pick it up from local UPS location, but customer service was really nice and helped me get it before the estimated delivery date. They even gave me a partial refund for my trouble. Thanks Paige! The actual bicycle is just as advertised, and had no damage or scratches. This is an excellent commuter bike for most people. I did a few modifications to make it even better for me personally. I added fenders from my old bicycle. They weren't for disc brakes, but after adding longer bolts and about an inch of spacers the supports no longer interfered with the brakes. I like to pedal HARD and go FAST, so I switched the chain rings to Vuelta Corsa Pro Crankset, Black, 175mm 53/39T Square Taper. This has longer crank arms too, so its kind of 2 upgrades in 1. The front derailleur had to be readjusted so it would stay on only the 2 chain rings until I get a different shifter. I also switched the cassette to one with 11T high gear and a larger low gear. With larger gears on the front and back I also had to get a longer chain. I probably couldn't race this bike unless i got a different cassette with gears closer in size relative to each other, but I can still go plenty fast on flats and downhill while still being able to climb steep hills. For going to and from work and the grocery store this is a great bike. It even looks good. I also added a rear rack and panniers for grocery trips. Now it has great storage capacity especially paired with a backpack. Very happy with my purchase.
