I know I'm a little late to hearing this song, but WOW!!! I love your guys songs, but this weekend my Dad basically told me that our relationship is my fault and that I'm a piece of shit because I believe I shouldn't have to chase after him just to talk. My Dad has been manipulative to me my entire life and I've given him multiple chances and even stopped talking to him for 3 years and still gave him another this year cause it's senior year of high school. I’m not depressed but listening to these songs and reading these comments just makes my heart break apart. I feel so sorry for everyone feeling this but I have no idea how to help so I’ll just say… To all those who need to hear this. You are loved. Your abuse hurts and will probably continue hurting but this will make you a stronger person. Your bravery and strength to hold on will be rewarded in the future. Only look at yourselves because you matter. My home is abusive. I'm forced to be silent about it. They have eyes and ears everywhere. I'm so sick of them seeing the worst in me. Whatever they see the have no problem saying to my face. I'm never perfect enough. I never do enough. This hits so hard with abusive parents and family. I try so hard just for them, hoping that they'll eventually love me. But it never helps at all. I work my butt off for them and make 100s in all my high school classes, but they dont notice and only ever see the things that upset them. "I break your rules just by existing" and "You'd rather leave me wishing I was dead then just break your mold that I never could fit in" went straight to my heart.
