seems like a plug not fully in or a crank sensor not fully tight possibly moving?. heard a few of these engines in non start and they all sound rubbish like that as if its no compression.

No fault codes is often a mechanical fault , compression sounds low

Sometimes they need to run for a bit to flag up a cam/crank correlation. Not always though, as you said I also would expect to see a correlation code but it's not 100% guaranteed to flag one up in my experience. I've seen some even take about 24 hours after being driven around for a bit to show up when it's only slight. Although it will probably be major and not slight in this case if that is what's wrong! Definitely sounds low on compression, have you tried a compression test? Are both cams turning I wonder? Have you tried timing it up yet?

compression sounds very low 👀 valves had a hit or low oil pressure at Hydraulic tappets

Are the cam phazers wrong way round or cam belt ends on wrong way ie exhaust on inlet cam. This would make timing out by about 2 teeth. As you said need good timing wave form.

The cam phasers are marked Ex and Inlet and are correctly installed cheers for chiming in 👍

@@sandyande Thanks for your reply. I know we're not in the guessing game but had temperature sensor give me some head scratching once. No start from cold but live data showing very hot. I know you will be looking for such things but I said it anyway 😀

this is my wifes car a vauxhall grandland elite Nav Arnold clark changed the timing belt and vacuum pump under warranty after www3 they would not change the engine flushed the engine i,m always worried it wont get to 100,000 its only done 27000 miles the internet is full off these engines with issues its a national disgrace how customers have been treated on this issue

Timing is either out and sounds to have no compression so has bent valves or somewhat

Following this one im very experienced but iv never come across this before. Could it be a fault on the ecu ? And might sound daft but disconnect the battery and leave it over night

Did you ever get to the bottom off this as i have just put a replacement engine in o e and it will not run, no spark.😢😢
