Citroen e-C4X banana box test

I was really pumped when the notifications of the channel showed the e-C4X... but my enthusiasm was quickly blasted away when I saw the trunk opening on the official Citroen side. Maaaaaaaan, it is such a bummer and a pain in the butt that car manufacturers just DON'T want to make practical sedans anymore :/ the e-C4X could have been such a great bargain, but that stupid regular sedan trunk does not make any sense versus even the regular e-C4. And lets not even talk about that trunk mechanism that even takes up place from the trunk, WTF?!

The trunk not being able to bring the window with it, like the shorter versjon.. is a dealbreaker for me. If not for that, this could be an interesting car! It would have been on my shortlist. Bummer 🤦🏼‍♂️

Always choose the car with the bigger rear hatch. Every car should have a hatch which opens at the top of the rear window

I have yet to carry cargo where a hatchback is a must. Flatpack furniture? Compost? All sedan friendly. Combine that with the cleaner looks at the back which I prefer, I'd pick the ec4 x over the regular ec4.

I'm glad my Ioniq Plug-in is a hatchback. In four years I've moved bikes, assembled furniture (6 dining room chairs at once!), a gas lawnmower, industrial test equipment, and other odd cargos. None of this was planned when I bought the car, but I never could have done it with a classic sedan.

This boot looks great, and at the beginning, the hinges seems to be more premium than the visible mechanism of the model 3. In the end, this is a bad design and it should have been a hatch. Why is it so difficult to design a hatch ?

I think the X ist not worth the higher price when it comes to trunk and cargo space. The hinches are just stupid

The model name reminded me of the CX... Bad space in the trunk compared to the CX, and the trunk lid included the glass.

I may be wrong, but I recall cx and gs to be 4 door sedans. The cx state was 5 doors, but not the regular cx. Anyway, IMHO there are much better options for this car's price.

@@Robcomesana I remembered incorrectly. The non station wagon CX had it's hinges on the outside, a little ways up the back window. But at least the hinges did not intrude into the cargo space as they were on the outside.

1:57 is the reason I want hatchback opening. Got those massive hinges from my Honda civic hybrid and they make transport cargo useless. Also the reason I choose Tesla model Y / Polestar 2 above Tesla model 3. And regular EC4 above this X version

psa is the worst... what horrible unhappy people work there... they just put out very poorly specced cars and then put out the version you might want in limited number super editions... and even then it has a lot of caveats ... ive been considering buying their cars for 20 years cause they look exciting but its always just not worth dealing with their bullshit
