It seems to have become the picture on the xantia owners page of where to look for rust😂 Unfortunately at this age they can and do rust, by no means as extensively as some of its contemporaries from other brands but enough to be serious. XMs at this age can suffer in some areas also, worth being wary if considering one.

@@peugeotCitroen2CV Thanks anyway. It's hard to find what I need. A new shock absorber (a single one) costs more than the commercial value of the car. And it is original material, there are no OEM parts.

@@nunoact I understand the problem, Xantia parts are hard to find these days and rust on the strut tops seems to be an issue now where a lot of them are punching through the bonnet. Best thing to do is join the various forums/clubs such as the french car forum, citroen owners club, citroen xantia owners club. There are forums and facebook groups where asking can find parts. Also there is the business called chevronics who are well known to specialise in hydrualic citroens. I have had xantias and a few other now rare french cars, finding parts takes time and persistance but the clubs are all quite active and rather useful.
