@@tommydacomicguy741 I couldn't recall him really singing in a high voice so I watched a handful of songs on YT and did find some. Prince was very different from Dallas even if they both sing in a high voice for at least some of their songs. Prince was incredibly talented from writing most, if not all, of his own music, to playing any instrument he wanted. From singing as high or low he wanted to "owning" his unique personal style. I would even go as far as to say "there'll never be another guy who can be as unique and talented as Prince." Prince has credibility that Dallas will never match and his personality was bigger than he was. He spent years building his brand and nobody can question the level that he attained. He's not just some guy who totally castrated someone else's song where someone else built their brand on a low, raspy voice. That voice spawned many imitators and that voice didn't "puss up" someone else's song. That voice developed his own style and has many followers who are fiercely loyal. Dallas is no Prince.

Sounds nothing like the original, puts his own flare on it, makes you find emotions in the song you didn’t know were there. Of all the times hearing and singing this song, “heartbreak” and “melancholic” is not at all what I associate the song with. Now I can thanks to this man. Amazing cover. No chord he strikes ever gets boring. You can see the passion and attachment to a guitar. That instrument is literally an extension of his arms. Beautiful passion, and beautiful to hear. Thanks Dallas.

Dallas is one of the best live performers of all time. I’ve seen city and colour 5 times and AOF one 1 occasion. He’s like a fine wine vocally. He performed nutshell flawlessly. It’s like he intertwines with your soul

I'm from Southern Ont and have followed Alexisonfire from almost the beginning and City and Colour from the beginning. I was one of the fans begging him to release a solo album. Then sometimes was released and the rest is history. I've seen Alexisonfire probably 20 times, City lkle 18 times cause I'm from roughly their neck of the woods so I'm very fortunate. City played my hometown Oshawa in February as well

Dallas Green (City and Colour) is a hometown hero in Canada. Really glad they got him involved in this. Fitting to have him, since Alice In Chains is THE REASON he does what he does. In Mr. Green's own words: "Anyone that knows me understands how incredibly deep my love for Alice In Chains goes. I can point to many musical mile markers that have helped me navigate this incredible journey that I’ve been on since I first picked up a guitar, but if you want to get to the bottom of why I make music the way that I do, it is this band. "Dirt was the first record I ever bought with my own money, on my birthday, September 29th, 1992 at the Lincoln Mall in St. Catharines, Ontario." Also, cool how he changed it up by doing it all in 4/4 vs the 6/4 used in most of the original. All in all, amazing cover from a Canadian legend. Check out his releases as City and Colour and with Alexisonfire if you haven't already.

I was a huge City and Colour fan in my teens, his first three albums are phenomenal. Saw him live once in Boston and he was incredible, what a voice. A little too whiny or emotional for me now but still very talented and beautiful. Little Hell is a masterpiece. But I had stopped listening and forgotten about him over time. Then this comes up on my feed. Wow. Dallas shed a whole new light on this song for me. It feels just like a sad back and forth love song without the reverb and distortion. The notes he hits at the chorus gives me chills. Layne would be thrilled with this! Very imaginative, heart felt and beautiful. Whole new appreciation for this man. There's no Alice without Layne, sorry. Duvall is alright but they should have named themselves something different.

For me, it rained down when Layne passed. Missed them 3 times because he kept going in rehab and then when we were about to see Jerry Cantrell at Livestock, they cancelled because Layne was gone. Was a torrential downpour knowing that myself, his friends, family, and all of his fans would never get to see them all together again. Sad times, man. Sad times. Beautiful though how all of these musicians came together to honor an iconic part of the 90's and beyond. Thank you for that.

Oh my fucking god man. Thus is absolutely beautiful and the fact that it's not really changed it's all the same notes just with a slightly slower rhythm and more predominantly sung. Dude I honestly believe Layne would have bowed to this performance almost definitely. Way to home onto the nature of the original song and give it your identifying twist. Honestly so much respect I'm completely blown the Fuck away. I'm a vocalist myself and Layne is definitely top three(I'll never rank those 3 any other way) just top 3 of my all time influences and such an underrated pure singer. That man could do impossible things and it's like for so long it just went unnoticed... Anyway sorry for the rant but thank you so very much for this performance and the you and true emotion you put into it. Absolutely amazing
