You need to start calling that thing "the Mud Bug". That was a lot of hand work on this job. good work. That trimmer attachment saved a lot of extra work.

I've gotten mowers stuck on a ditch bank many of time. What works well for me to pull it out when parallel to the bank like that is to almost get along side of the mower with the truck and use as short of a chain as you can. I have also had to pull from the back of the mower (rotating the mower 180 while pulling it out with a short chain). With a long chain it will just keep sliding down, with a short chain it just can't slide down much. Thanks, from you're local KZbin back seat driver.😁

Well, Devin, I'm impressed! Three hours using the weedeater is A LOT. I can only last about half of that before I'm totally beat. My Stihl seems ligh when I start, and by the time I'm through, it weighs a ton, and my back is crying. You managed a lot, but wow, does it look nice.

You should think about getting a winch for your truck. Even if it's one that mounts to the trailer hitch. There are several that are remote controllable, so you can control them from the seat of what you're pulling. They also work well for pulling fallen trees out of ponds.

The next time, they ask you, might be a good idea to put your mower head on your excavator and to the pond edge section by section. Its slower. But safer.

Good job and video Brother. Just fyi, you might want to get a chute blocker for the mower to help mitigate the debris from flying out and hitting a car. I hit a rock in a yard and cleared a 2 lane road with ditches on both sides when the rock finally landed, it was about 5 feet passed the far ditch.

A quick ideer... whenever a GoPro falls down or gets knocked down, you should pick it up and ask, "Hey, you guys alright in there?" Just like if the people watching the video are passengers INSIDE the GoPro. Just a fun little thing, and I'll bet more than a few people watching at home would answer and then laugh at themselves for doing so.

I had to laugh when you got bogged. The amount of times I have done that. I was mowing on the side of a hill which was very muddy and the ride on started slipping into the mud and ended up being bogged. It took me 2 hours to get it out. Very embarrassing.

I know you like your JD zero turn, but have you ever driven one of their front mowers? Unless you mow a lot of flat, unobstructed terrain like sports fields I think a JD commercial front mower would suit your needs better. They are better for trimming around and under low hanging obstacles and if you get one with 4WD you’ll get stuck less often. They are easier to maintain too if you get a model with a flip up front deck for blade maintenance. They’re also safer on a side hill since they have a somewhat lower center of mass. I’ve used both and hands-down prefer the front mower. Mine front mower isn’t “zero turn” but it can mow in about a 10” circle on the left side. And that’s tighter than you’re likely to need in practice.

DERN MAN you really need to check in to getting a Ventrac. You have a local dealer down in Charleston I believe. See if they have a demo, or if they will come give you a demo at one of your jobs. Not sure by video, but I think you could have done the whole thing with Ventrac only and not had to do any trim work. Really need to check in to one!
