Yes it's true. My job got delayed 1 whole year because the city decided to stick their nose where it didn't belong. Now, it was extremely frustrating pushing everything back, because the longer it takes to get the job done, the longer it takes for me to get paid. However, things happen and in business you need to roll with the punches.

I worked on a property that had about 1 million dollars in landscaping done. They had huge stones put in. Their property was beautiful. Here in Austin, TX, their drive-way was like up a big hill so it spiralled up the hill with those huge rocks out. They had a huge play area inside and outside for their kids. Probably the coolest place for kids lol.

Sounds ridiculous that you'd pull a permit for a stoop. One question, I notice the stairs for the concrete are framed over the siding. Why didn't you pull off the siding and flash the house. Moisture from the concrete will seep into the house and rot the framing.

Yeah permits usually always hold up the progress. Especially when you have a team that is fast and efficient at what they do. We can only wish those government employees were the same. Keep up the great work!

Yeah this is happening even in our more country counties as well now. They way you get answers quickly with these pencil pushers is you let them know that the existing steps are a safety hazard and that you’ve been put off by the city multiple times and that if they continue to put it off you will file a lawsuit against the city for not allowing you to move forward to correct the safety issue. It can’t be good to have formwork, and stakes sticking up like that for a year and when you’ve taken out so much the steps are no longer up to code the county must move fast to get make the dwelling safe. That’s why we have these codes right? It’s not all just a racket is it?

Next time have proper drawings ready… you have a designer how hard is it for them to modify a plan so it meets city code show footings etc submit with proper paperwork and youll have a permit within 2 months… inexperience is why you don’t have a permit sooner.

big nono on the grass and pavers in that pool,500k project and you use pavers,travertine 100% i have done almost 7k jobs,a lot pools and driveways including patios,and never in my life saw that,for the price was not a omg job for real,i did a 1.000.000 pool job in atlanta and was in front of belgard magazine job perfect,the most expensive pavers and natural stones.

Wow the city can delay a 500k job on me for a year and I would still be doing cartwheels up my driveway infront of neighbors watching 😂 My mom used to write permits for the county she lived in. She used to try and tell me to get a permit everytime I did anything on my property but I never did. It’s a money racket. Somehow I got charged on my taxes for my new steel building I had built even though they didn’t know about it. 😂 Tax man knows somehow I think they fly over to see if anyone has built anything new. 😂
