FORCED to Leave Job Because Pool Contractor Went BANKRUPT!

I started this job a year and a half ago and it is BARELY getting complete... The biggest issue about this job taking so long is that I won't get paid until the pool contractor finishes his part! At the end of the day, he is making me look bad because I referred him to the homeowner and he isn't doing his part. Make sure that when you hire other contractors that they are capable of completing their tasks.

No pool contractor will finish the pool until all landscaping is completed first. They can't apply the finish coat of the pool with landscape still needed. Also, when you sub out through your contract, you are liable for the workmans comp insurance of the sub contractor. Never sub, only refer.

Absolutley right, last check is my check....I get paid last.... I am really sketchy about recommending people I do remodels on houses and some of the work I have homeowner do....I dont want to touch it, guarantee it, and percentage isnt even worth it to me....I dont want call backs for either....countertops, HVAC, appliances and landscaping I give to homeowner.....

That Trex decking is total garbage. 8+ dollars a linear foot and it scratches like nothing. Far better/cheaper options would be concrete/concrete pavers/exterior porcelain tile. I am a hardscaping contractor myself and I hate it when clients hire shoddy contractors to do work beyond my scope. Nice job overall though.

Here’s the thing: if your company doesn’t have enough working capital to do the job & THEN get paid?, Then they’re not a professional business. This bullshit of down payment & interim payments & final payments is what gets contractors in trouble because they develop a bad habit of “floating-expenses” which is robbing Peter to pay Paul & eventually at the end of the line it all comes crashing down
