Great to see the Mayor out and about with the common folk. LRT expansion is critical to the growth of Edmonton. Can't build it fast enough, in my opinion. If I lived closer, I would use it everyday. You can get through the city very quickly. I completely support this.

LRT is totally awesome! I just wish they'd finish building the Lewis Farms LRT system.

The lrt should be underground, travel east and west, north and south. Edmonton's sister city Harbin in China could teach a few things about getting it done! Surface buses need to run at better hours, my son cannot get to work by bus by 6am. It seems the bus system is not so much for the people, but paid for by the people.

As soon as the LRT is built in Millwoods, I will use it and many more! Less gas and less polution.

LRT expansion is important. The issue I have is the cost. Hard to believe city cares about being green when they charge $3.20 a trip. Last event I went to at Northlands it was cheaper for a friend and I to drive and pay for parking than for both of us to take the LRT.

Sure, I support LRT expansion, provided it works harmoniously with other forms of transportation. I am not in favour of eliminating lanes of traffic to establish above ground LRT. The southern leg of the LRT, frankly, is a joke. The city easily could have run the LRT under the intersections and it would not have cost much more. The rest of it could have stayed the same. Also, any LRT downtown should continue to be underground. The NAIT expansion is going to cause all sorts of traffic problems. A well-conceived transportation system ensures the maximum efficiency of all forms of traffic and does not favour one over the other. It can be done. And until the LRT has expanded, is it possible to improve the bus service?

Damn right I support LRT expansion! It boggles my mind how Daryl Katz's hockey arena can be completely paid off already by the City of Edmonton while our LRT expansion plans to provide us with public transportation, has not yet been paid for when both projects are in the same budget range (from the figures I've read).

The downtown arena and LRT are two completely different projects and each contributes to building a great city in a different way. The arena is an important project that will contribute significantly to the revitalization of Edmonton's downtown. Funding for the arena comes from three sources: City funding, Katz Group and a user pay through a ticket tax. The City will maintain ownership of the arena.

City of Edmonton Thanks! That's good to know and clarifies things better, especially the funding and ownership parts.

Please build future LRT with permanent park and ride lots that work. Otherwise the investment is not as rewarding. People need to drive to a paved lot to use the LRT effectively. If not the LRT just becomes a train to nowhere.

The LRT expansions isn't that great. It's hard enough to get to north Edmonton from south Edmonton by car, and unless you work downtown, there really won't be much purpose to riding the LRT. Additionally, the price of public transit is pretty crazy considering the security concerns and the poor connectors.
