Do you always visit or (visited in the past) the city before reporting on their skyscrapers? Thanks!

Nebraska is also the state where many Native American tribes were forced to settle like the Sioux, Pawnee, and Omaha nations. Actually 60% of the USA’s names of city and states come from Native tribe names 👍🏽

What was the statue on top of the state capital building? It looked cool.
@CityGeek2 жыл бұрын
It’s called The Sower. It’s 19 feet tall and I’d agree that it does look pretty cool
@kingsledge2 жыл бұрын
Yep, it's the sower. Spreading new growth to the state. It faces to the NW or towards the most land in the state. The Capitol in general is truly a piece of art. There is a lot of Native American symbolism and art. The whole thing tells a story about the state (from prehistoric to modern times) as well as the history of the USA and of law

Lincoln actually has a decent Vietnamese and Korean population for it's size. I was born and raised there. For retirement it's not bad. My parents retired a couple years ago and live there. Biggest downside for all of Nebraska is that property taxes are some of the highest in the country, but a low cost of living and cheaper housing helps make up for it. As for the job market, it depends. Insurance, education, government, and health care are the biggest and growing. There is also a small, but growing tech scene. Manufacturing is very much lacking, but construction and service industries are strong.
@kingsledge2 жыл бұрын
I'll also add that it is a very clean, safe, and fun place to live. The city really shines for people raising a family. High quality education, lots of unique parks and trails, and a beautiful children's zoo are some highlights. Being a college town, downtown is always hopping, especially on game days.

I feel like Boise has a more impressive skyline overall than Lincoln. Lincoln's average is skewed by the capitol being so much taller than any other building in town. Just my 2 cents.
@CityGeek2 жыл бұрын
Yeah you’re definitely right about the average being a little skewed by the capitol. I still think it has a better skyline than I was expecting for a city with such a small metro population.
@kingsledge2 жыл бұрын
The view of the skyline coming into Lincoln on interstate 180 is very impressive (for the size). Especially now that they just finished the cities new second tallest building on the north end. It's been about 15 years since I've been to Boise, so I won't try to compare
@glennlrw2 жыл бұрын
@@kingsledge The new 21-story Lied Place Condominiums you refer to on the north end should also qualify as one of the skinniest skyscrapers around. Each floor only has one side of a hallway, with no condos or building on the other side of the hallway.
