Nice game. I see you’re always steamrolling by selling diplo favor and doing joint wars. I feel your abusing the game a bit too much. Would be nice to say a game where you restrict yourself from doing that.

Actually this is a good one to pick up - since the start of the year I've been consistently running two rules: 1) I can't take money from joint wars 2) I can't abuse the purchase of diplo favour In response to glitches and exploits in the game. So i can reassure you this run was done without any exploits or aggressive "gaming" in that way! Selling diplo favour and joint wars btw are totally fine to use and play with. I just try and keep it within intended mechanics of the game!!

Haha - it's all about movement. Pillaging a trade route ends that unit's turn, so if you need to attack, better leave alone. Those routes will often redeploy elsewhere for you to pillage later also!

So in this case, I did not need it because it was the wrong side of the map and the snowball is too real. I'm going to use railway and logistics later to use it more, late game. It makes for some amazing artillery armies!

I don’t know why my game AI got 70 plus science and 40 culture on turn 70 already. And in Ursa this game AI only produce 40+ science.

Depends on which AI you're up against. If you see Korea or Mayan empires you'll have more competition, I had quite a few trade and culture based civs this game. Try picking your opponents, might help, no shame in that

Loving this run, I'm definitely going to play as Korea next game. This series has given me a thought. I wish Great Scientists, rather than giving eurekas for techs, gave 50% research to the techs so the eureka boosts were still available. Very frustrating when you already have the tech boosted (or sometimes have even fully researched it) and earning a GS is meaningless. (That or if they had a generic, "if you have all my techs just have X science when you activate me" back up ability.)

Yeah it can be frsutrating - but if anything it makes you think about timing. Sometimes holding on to a GS until you've done some of the easier eurekas can be very helpful!

Perfect job of not just demonstrating a classic Korean early war, but also the granular explanation for the subtle little things like waiting for a key civic/tech/government, moving generals, pausing to heal, going burn everything or just push till it's time to pant for the head...

4:04 I'm almost certain that the AI doesn't value great works properly on the turn they're created. This became very obvious to me when using a single archeologist to clear out all antiquity sites in my empire by selling the artefacts to the AI as they're extracted, so that the archeological museum never fills up. The AI would only ever pay about 1 gold upfront the turn they were extracted, and always on the order of 10 or more gold per turn on any subsequent turn. I've also experienced much the same effect with Kandy's relic-giving bonus. While I'm on the topic, if you do use a single archeologist as described above when not going for a culture victory, I'd recommend choosing barbarians for all the artefacts where possible, so that the AI has a harder time theming them, reducing the benefit of having them. Not that the AI doesn't suck at theming artefacts anyway, but still, it's an easy optimisation to perform.

I've seen it the other way, refusing to sell them the turn they appear than then going cheap later. I think the AI changes which victory condition it's going for based on it's tourism that turn, so it can jump around majorly

Very fun! Part of this guide is to sort of show that there are a bunch of city states that can appear that you should pivot to using. Valleta, Auckland, Akkad, Kandy, Geneva, Chinguetti, Zanzibar, Kumasi to name but a few. Some fantastic options that you should adapt your stategy to using

I tried this exact strategy with Korea many times. Was always too late with the men-at-arms because AI already had walls and sometimes even musketmen. I was surprised that Mali did so bad in this game.

Keep at it - it's a combination of patience and getting the number of cities right. Too few, you'll not have the science. Too many, you won't get out fast enough. Six to eight does it for me
