"Wakan Tanka" is the Lakota/Sioux spirituality and belief system. They're similar to the Cree, but represent a larger, southern people representing 3 main groups: Lakota, Dakota, and Nakoda. The term "Tanka" translates to Buffalo in the Siouan language. The anglicized Cree religion is not present in the Historical Religions mod unfortunately. It is proper to use Wakan Tanka, as many Cree share similar beliefs to the Plains Lakota peoples, but Cree are extremely vast and diverse in our beliefs and dialects. We stretch from Northern Quebec to parts of Northern British Columbia for perspective of our diversity. We have 5 main dialects and groups representing us: Plains, Woodland, Swampy, Moose, and James Bay Cree. As for in-game, I would recommend using the "Orenda" religion as it shares the most beliefs and similarities with a majority of our nations. It is the closest to our beliefs in "Manitou" (The Great Spirit/Creator/God). *"Manitou"* would be the correct, anglicized name for the Cree broader spiritual system and religion. Orenda is the Iroquoian peoples (Mohawk, Onondaga, Oneida) who are an Algonquin people of the Great Lakes region in North America. Cree are an Algonquin people in origin, but we have dispersed and conquered west as a result of history. The belief in Turtle Island and The Great Spirit are most similar to the Iroquois religion. Sorry for the info dump, but I love seeing representation, discussion, and media that represent my people. I love to add and clarify information regarding my people and beliefs with the little information that has survived since the settlement of North America. There has not been a lot of positive representation of Indigenous people in media historically, but its great seeing things turn a new leaf. I am really enjoying all your videos and series Ursa! I'm always looking forwards to videos! Edit: Fun Fact! Mikisiw-Wacihk means "at eagle hills". Mikisiw = Eagle, Wacihk = Hills. The name of this correlates to the modern-day Red Pheasant Cree Nation located in Treaty 6 Territory of Saskatchewan.

@@skipperxiv9401 in the religions mod, it is programmed as being the default religion for Cree, and the Buffalo are also important and sacred to them as well, but yeah, they are entirely separate nations with very different languages.

The Pantheon choice was so entertaining, watching you wanting them all and going back and forth! So glad you went with Sun God, it's one of my favourites and is often much more useful than it may look at first glance because it ends up being active on so many tiles. I love Religions Expanded, it makes pantheons and beliefs an interesting decision every game rather than there being a small handful of viable options. I never play without it any more and I recommend it to everyone.

This reminds me of my cree game on a regular TSL earth huge map i playedb recently, but with all the North and south american civs. So it was really crowded, and a tundra start. Luckily I had peace with the surrounding civs because I had pretty much only tundra cities and around 13 science and culture at turn 100. I was able to turn it around however, thanks to dance of the aurora, the voidsingers and eventually loyalty. Bij round 214 I had a religious victory and 400+ science and culture. It was a really interesting challenge. It was inspired by one of your earlier games, as usual. Keep up the great and creative content!

@@UrsaRyan the only thing I've found that I wish was different was the final promotion level. It happens so late ( atomic era ) that I ended up not even needing it. Just went Moksha for an extra promotion and took proselytizer and translation with the base Orator promotion. Turned them into insane wartime religion spreaders for Crusade.

I will say when it comes to abilities I think the Cree need a buff, I think a cool buff for them could be extra Production for tiles that are Unimproved and maybe better alliance and trade route bonuses if poundmaker has a different government then the ally? Just ideas.

What if they get instant trade routes and trading posts established in other civs capitals when they befriend them? Its like the settling ability for Rome but with friendship. Getting trader slots for every alliance could also be an interesting buff.

28:05 Whenever I end up in the situation where I know my unit is going to die, if I can do some damage on the way out, I do so (don't just die to ranged attacks), and if I can't, I'll at least make sure to deny the AI any benefit (xp, faith as Tamar, culture as Gorgo, great people points with Wolin, etc.), by deleting the unit, if relevant.

What about only religious tourism culture victory when you will play Poland. You never use religious tourism in your games coz it's so much worse, but it would be a ni e challenge. No secret societies, that's lame and easy with voidsingers.

The 30 gold is NEVER worth all the extra barbs

It depends on your situation. Early barbs are rather weak except if you get a horse riders camp. If you need this tiny push in gold for a specific threshold its ok. You just need a strong enough unit to retaliate the retaliation.

It is if you have the camp on lockdown. Maybe you have a spearman coming to get the Military Tactics boost, so you actually want another barb unit to kill. Maybe you have vampires that need to charge up barb kills. Maybe you're 20 gold shy of buying a builder and don't want to wait 4 more turns. Maybe you're on marathon and want to abuse the mechanic. There are plenty of reasons to do it.
