I overheard a conversation with a Civ6 armchair quarterback and he said "Aid requests seem like a waste of production when there are 50+ competitors with mega production....let them compete with themselves and wipe the winner off the map if they get close." I almost interrupted with "But Ursa"

It certainly feels like a waste just throwing the AI money they already have in abundance, instead of improving your own empire with it. And with this max level disaster difficulty, there will pretty much always be aid requests going on, preventing the player from doing anything to their own empire. Its like a never-ending fomo event such as monthly battle passes in online games. Personally never even turn diplomatic victory on. If it wouldnt be optional for me, but a must, it'd just ruin my fun. Im not playing a city builder to help the AI build their cities. Even winning diplo win feels like some cheesy scam, because the AI doesnt care until you get close, but then it just becomes unfair and you gotta pull off something they cant possibly defend themselves from. Each to their own though, of course.

They attacked Brazil, and because you're allied, that caused *you* to declare on Mapuche, and not them to declare on you. So even though Mapuche started it by declaring on your ally, because you technically declared war while honoring your alliance, Ghandi disapproves. It's stupid, but that's how the game's logic is.

Hmmm.... you pass aid requests on AI instead of down voting.... But AI has a 250% production boost, leading to a 3.5x multiplier of production. If in normal games 4 gold ~= 1 production, then in cid meyers game an aid receiver would get 4 gold = 1/3.5 production. Youd be wasting about 10-15% of the AI's production. However, isnt there a good chance the AI has govenors, government cards, or other buffs that decreases gold cost by 15% or more? By doing this, you a generating free money for the AI. Instead, doesnt it make sense to prioritize voting against the AI's request for aide. and AFTER that vote for yourself?

@@UrsaRyan yeah, watching the rest of the video, seeing how hard you're orienting for a Diplo victory, and your argument does make sense. I've just never gotten in the habit of that victory type; I severely undervalued the Diplo plays. And I haven't even touched cid Meyer difficulty. Still, I wonder if there's a way to abuse the AI bonuses and force them to spend production/food on frivolous things.
