Originally, I would have said no because the capital of Mexico City is located in the same location as the Aztec Capital, Tenochtitlan. But seeing how they have the Ottomans and Byzantium, which also share a capital, they should just do it now.

I was hoping for the same thing. I'd love a industrial or colonial era Mexico in civ 6. I feel I'd prefer their play style more than I currently enjoy the Aztec

IMO the zombies mode counteracts the fact that the barb tribe mode takes away barbs once you reach mid game. My favorite add on by far is the wonder/ city state/ civ selectors.

I am hoping for another full DLC to Civ 6 in the future, and I think this is most likely because at no point did the Civ team full on say "this is the end". At least not yet. Though if they do this, I hope that they address a few concerns about the representation across the span of the globe. If they just added ONE European civ, I would not be bothered in the slightest. Also, for the love of god, we need at least two more Native North American civs. So many cultures across the continent, and so far only the Cree have been shown in 6.

Very good analysis. Totally agree on your points, especially about the fantasy elements. The zombie mode disappointed me and I think vampires too did. I like secret societies mode though but it does have fantastical elements to some of the societies. Heroes and legends is a fun twist too and I like playing with this mode, but these heroes basically have superpowers and are godlike in their abilities. For me modes like barbarian clans mode, and Monopolies and Corporations mode are better cause they're more grounded in reality, and I would hope any future modes are more real world and less fantasy.

The toggle-ability of the game modes was the most genius decision they ever made.... I quite enjoyed the Civs added as well, more than either Rise and Fall or Gathering Storm

The toggle ability was a brilliant way of adding these game modes!

To understand why I'm skeptical about there being a second season pass, I want to look at the end of fellow strategy game CKII's life cycle. In late 2018, the Holy Fury expansion for CKII was released to mass acclaim. This was probably the most popular expansion released for the game, and completely reinvigorated the community. A couple months later, in early 2019, they released a small, free update, the "Iron Century" update, featuring many cool new mechanics. I was thoroughly convinced that Holy Fury would spark a new wave of CKII content, right up until they announced CK3 in late 2019. Holy Fury wasn't the start of a new wave for CKII, but a last hurrah. CKII was just too old, with the engine being unable to handle any of the updates they were wanted to add, so they tossed all their final ideas for CKII in the Iron Century update and move on to CK3. Some of the final expansions were also tests for mechanics they wanted to add in CK3: if it was liked, add it, if not, keep it out. I sense that Civ VI is going through the same end of life cycle that CKII went through just two years ago, or damn close to it. The New Frontiers pass tested the waters for some stuff in Civ VII (which is probably in early development right now, perhaps it was even a year ago. Games take a long time to make), while also serving as a last hurrah for Civ VI. The April Update, changing so much, will likely serve as Civ VI's Iron Century update, and from there, they switch all attention to Civ VII (besides some basic bug fixes).

They should add: Inuit Lakota Caribbeans Malayans Kievan rus or similar And many more i do not remember. As far as I AM concerned they were wrong by adding the gauls when there was the French or adding the canadians when there were the French, the americans and the British.

ive been seeing reviews that the new pass has been breaking AI's, as i have very little experience with the game so far. does not sound good when your just getting into civ 6 and not waning to come into a already broken game.

People who complain that there's too many European civilizations, well what do you expect? Most of the greatest civilizations came out of Europe so obviously there will be more, I think there could be even more European leaders and they're deliberately holding back so there could be more variety
@charliek25573 жыл бұрын
I have a feeling this criticism comes from the whole new critical race theory / rewriting history movement that's very loud right now. The same people who complain about lack of diversity in this or that being all white male. I was thinking the exact same thing as you. They added a bunch of no-name civilizations like Gran Columbia lol. Look at the old civilization games, they only had the major players in history.
@robertgronewold33263 жыл бұрын
@@charliek2557 Gran Columbia won independence from a powerful Spain in much the same way as America did. That changed the course of South American history.
@robertgronewold33263 жыл бұрын
What I, along with many others, desired was more balance across the continents. Usually when selecting civs, they pic one from each continent at the very least, for each expansion. This last time they added a third European civ instead of something say Native American or Pacific. And besides, the history of the world is not European centric. Asia and the Middle East were alive with culture and learning while people in Europe were still painting themselves blue. And all humans and nations in their own ways contribute to the fabric that is the modern world.
@MikeJones-bl6lu3 жыл бұрын
@@robertgronewold3326 Gran Columbia and Maya are both Native American.
@robertgronewold33263 жыл бұрын
@@MikeJones-bl6lu No, Gran Columbia is a colonial nation, like Brazil, Canada and America in the game. The Maya are Mesoamerican, part of the pyramid building cities of the central part of the continent system, along with the Aztec. The Inca and Mapuche are both Andean nations. Native American in the US usage indicates the nations and tribes of what is today the United States and Canada. Of this area, only the Cree have featured in Civ 6, and there are dozens of tribes they could pull from.
