Played Russia for the first time recently, geared up for a religious victory on a huge map, going for a long game. And i just kept getting artists and writers and the instant i found the last civilization on the map i won a culture victory. So yeah, culture victory without really trying for it.

Have you considered making a list ranking which strategic resources are the most important? Like maybe iron could be considered more important than niter because more civs should push with an early swordsman rush as opposed to waiting for bombards (just an example obviously). Food for thought.

I think the Netherlands and Indonesia are both solid civs, maybe not top 10 tier but definitely good. Their adjacency bonuses, the Dutch with rivers and Indonesia with coast, can help expand the possibilities for high adjacency districts and can offer a side grade to Japan or Germany in that regard, while their unique improvements can help provide extra yields and housing for otherwise useless coastal tiles(the only other options for developing them either coming deep in the science tree or from using Liang in the city which can be difficult if you need other governors for your build, especiallysince they are less useful when she's not in the city preventing you from really spamming them in every city))

I actually kind of like Kupe, admittedly because of the novelty factor but having sailing/shipbuilding is a huge boost off the start and Toa’s are a great unit for spamming early game.

Probably my favorite civ. I love spawning on the ocean. And gaining +2 Science and +2 Culture per turn in the early game let's me hang out and float to find the best spot for my capital (usually a nice island for isolation). It's not a huge boost, but lets me research some stuff before I settle. I once waited 30 turns before I settled my captiol. 😂

With a little luck, Australia can have +100% production for the rest of the game. You need one civilization to have a one-pop city near another large civ. The one-pop city will rebel within 10 turns. You can then conquer it and "liberate" it back to the original civ. I think they're also generally more fun as appeal becomes a meaningful element, and deserts are actually usable.

They nailed the mechanics in this game. However, a game like this needs the AI to be pretty advanced to remain fun. The AI in this game definitely needs a boost

Personally, I think Australia should be ranked higher. They're one of the few civs that has no moment in the game where they're at their weakest because of the incredible value on their Districts. Basically, if you drop a Holy Site, Commercial Hub, Campus or Theater Square on a Breathtaking tile, they are guaranteed a +3 adjacency. Not only that, but each of those Disctricts actually provides Appeal to adjacent tiles, meaning that you can stack these districts on top of each other and easily get +4, which gives you access to the fantastic Policy cards that boost the yields in those districts. On top of that, they still get their standard adjacency bonuses, meaning those Holy Sites and Campuses placed next to mountains are going to give you massive early game yields compared to other civs. With their extra housing from coast, this means that the coastal cities can grow faster and larger before hitting their housing cap, allowing them to also benefit from the District bonuses sooner. Australia is also one of the few civs that actually benefits from settling near desert thanks to the Outback Station giving them workable desert tiles. This means that the only terrain that Australia should avoid until Conservation is researched is Tundra, and they can still benefit from coastal cities there. Their Leader ability makes them nigh unpunishable, as the Production boost occurs *regardless* of what type of war is declared against you *AND THIS INCLUDES EMERGENCIES* That's right, warmonger John Curtin is literally a raid boss, as his massive army will conquer neighbours and anybody who tries to stop him only makes him stronger. And, of course, the Digger is an incredible unit that is very scary to fight against and very powerful to use. They aren't on par with Germany and Work Ethic Russia, but they're certainly one of the strongest civs in the game if you know how to manipulate Appeal.

When I play Australia, the AI never declares war against me. I have to fabricate a War of Liberation by capturing a city-state, letting it flip or selling it, and re-liberating it.

@@jyutzler I don't think you can declare a War of Liberation with a captured City State, but you can liberate it after it gets transferred to another civ, which does give you the production buff. You'd have to declare an offensive war, likely one that generates Grievances, unless the AI attacked and captured that City State on its own volition and you happened to be Suzerain.

@@jyutzler you can also intentionally forward settle cities close to aggressive AI, wait for them to declare and then get the production bonus, crush them and take more of their cities, or just improve your existing cities. If you have the production to waste on sacrificial settlers and the balls to go for it, you could theoretically be a defensive warmonger

Gran Colombia is one of the best civs for Domination. I conquered all of America (Aztecs, Brazil, and Maya) by turn 150. Commandante General is probably one of the best units in Civ VI.

Germany is probably my #1. It’s not difficult to plot out 3 cities in a triangle and have a +15 Hansa surrounded by commercial zones, dams, etc. Then the policy card doubling adjacency bonuses for industrial zones, and you just fucking win

jo brother, can you answer me this question: i played civ 6 for some good 300 hours now and i mainly focused so far on science win with japan, korea and germany. won science wins a few times on deity, its actually not that big of a deal. 500 turn speed. can you recommend me any road to playing with ppl online? and what settings do you use the speed of your win? you say things like "win with this under 200 turns" or smth similar to that. what is like the "online"-norm of settings? wish you a good one, have a nice day. and nice vid, nice puns, loved the kim proposition

I usually do it with super strong bonuses like russian culture or babylon domination. For science you definitely need to edit the map in your favour cause it requires a lot of set up

My favorite Empire are The Ageless. They're an Empire I made up and they have better stats than even the Indians. The Ageless hail from a land known as The Unknown and as far as their attributes they are essentially Ageless and Mysterious. This Ageless Mystery often results in confusion for their adversaries and they soon enough fall to the inevitable effects that Aging has on an Empire. It has been remarked in my imagination that The Ageless seek the wisdom of another Empire but have yet to find one that can survive long enough to divulge their understandings of The World. This is the tragedy at the core of The Ageless' eternal predicament and the reason why they have such a powerful emotional hold over The Player (Me). Ciao.

I recently tried khmer for a few games, if you play it right it easily smashes russia by producing illegal amounts of faith per turn. You don't need to give a shit about great scientist points since you can just buy one every 5 turns. If you then play it right you make more science than everyone else within a few turns, the exact same can be done with culture

Why don't you use bbg mod which is used in the multiplayer community of civ. It nerfs and buffs civs making them more fair and equal. For example: Babylon gets 65% boost from Eureka instead of 100%, Columbia can't recruit great generals, mapuche gets +5 instead of +10 against civs in golden age, seawon gets +2 instead of +4 base yield, Portugal gets trade cap per era instead of per meeting new civs etc. It makes the game fair
