Anyway, we have in history rulers like Władysław Jagiełło, which with led Polish-Lithuanian union forces against Teutonic Knights, and won against them in probably largest medieval battle in history - under Grunwald. There was also Jan III Sobieski, which led Polish-German-Austrian coalition under Battle of Vienna. He won against Ottoman Empire, and put to an end their great campaign against Europe. And last, but not least - Józef Piłsudzki, which won against Soviet Union. Stopped communists in their tracks. If not for Miracle at Wisła - as battle is called - major parts of Europe would be probably in communists hands before II WW has happened. Wiśniowiecki while he was good ruler of his part of land, was never a king of whole country. His son was, but he didn't managed to do anything major in his short reign. Jan III Sobieski, which was elected after him - was something else. I would really enjoy Józef Piłsudzki as leader. People would be probably suprised we had someone similar to Bismarck. Or Jan III Sobieski - probably best ELECTED king. People would be like ,,wow, did Poles CHOOSE their ruler like, 300-400 years earlier before Amurica constitution? Before democration was fancy and new? When in England or France king was absolute, they had something between president and king?" From another side, Casimir is only leader in CiV, which was medieval king, kinda nice thing.

Story time: One day i decided to play as Korea, my neighbors being Poland, Germany, Byzantium, Spain, and Greece. So, Bismark decides that Theodora should not live, and conquers most of her land. Poland forms a coalition to attack Germany for being a jerk, and I was part of it. So, Poland, Byzantium, and I attack Germany to no success. Of course, poland uses this as a opportunity to attack and conquer Greece. I hated this and gave greece an island city on another continent. Then we make peace with Germany. So, then Germany asks if I want to attack Poland with them, I said no, I would regret that soon. So many turns past, and my friendship with Poland distanced. Then Maria Theresa attacked my gift to Greece, Sparta, so I denounce Austria and attack them. The Austrians conquer Sparta, and allies with Poland. Poland joins the fight against me. I conquer and liberate Sparta, and defend my borders from Poland, but they were a bit too much for me. So we end the war as a status quo. So I check demographics and see that Poland is number one for most things, including Army size. This alarmed me heavily. Poland attacked Germany and captured their most northern city. This was horrifying. So Germany offered me a declaration of friendship, which I accepted. Turns later Germany, Byzantium, Greece, and form a coalition to attack Poland and Austria. Germany had the second biggest army, me third, byzantium 8th, Greece 7th. So, Poland sent a storm of winged hussars against my army of 2 tanks, 18 infantry, 3 artillery, and 4 sipahs. My saving grace was that my border with Poland was jungle, so I was able to keep them from reaching my cities. Poland retreated. So, I checked on how Germany was doing, and it was even. So, I prepared a navy and some units to distract Poland by attacking their north. But, the opportunistic Isabella of Spain to my south got an idea. Isabella was silent and my ally and main trading partner, so I trusted her most of the time. She now decided that I was weak and decided to declare war. Her army was outdated. Frigates and Privateers bombarded my coast. So I sent my submarines to work. Her navy was gone within a couple of turns. She still refused peace though. So, I captured Seville. She then begged for peace. In the Peace I gave her back Seville, and she gave me half of GDP. So, I checked back on Germany. His Panzer Storm could not stand up to Casimirs Winged Hussars. So rushed units to their German Front. It was fruitless. So, I was building Nukes, so I used them on Warsaw. I nuked warsaw twice and Krakow once. Poland was still unfazed. Poland actually captured all of Germany and Byzantium. I was the lat man standing of the coalition. Greece lost their last city. So, I put up a good defense. Poland won, and guess how? Science. F=cking science. Moral: NEVER TRUST POLAND. AND. POLAND CAN INTO SPACE.

My last game on Immortal settings with Casimir got me in the same continent with France (north), Indonesia (south) and Pocatello (se). Everything was fun and games until prick Napoleon decided to overbully and invade both city-states between us. Gifted a shit tonne of hussars so they became my allies, and then Napo decided to declare war on me. 20 or so turns got Marseille and laid siege on Paris until he accepted the war fines and a couple shitty cities he founded just to troll me. Razed one and sold the other to pocatello so we could be mates. By the endgame Frace and me became Freedom and were BFF, waging wars together and even defending him agains Indonesia, liberating his captured cities (and even giving him Marseille back) in exchange of more cash and luxuries. Sooner I met the top scored Austria on her own continent made of former city states. We were good friends until she backstabbed me just because they commie ass perks were against my democracy agenda. We went full cold war (with tons of proxy wars and stocking nukes) until we decided to see who can into space first. Best victory ever.

They ended up just taking out their capital, and the only thing keeping them from taking out Spain's last city is me, since I am right between the two.

So I was playing in one of my early games with him and 8 other empires. When we reached the renaissance, I shit you not, Poland had snagged 2 entire empires. So he's pretty far ahead. Myself, playing as France in this game, declared war on him with Catherine and elizabeth. I took two cities then the capitals and the polish empire, the one which had covered most of the world, crumbled like the holy Roman Empire following the battle of austerlitz (look it up) he gave me all of the cities on my continent which I had started on with him. Over the sea where he had invaded germany and was sharing with Catherine, all of it went to Russia. And on Elizabeth's continent on which he had invaded Austria, all of that went to Elizabeth. And the last 3 cities he had were later invaded by Rome...

Look on google for Polandbal or Countryballs..It's a series of comic where there are balls (each representing a nation) essentially conflicting/making puns. Poland is usually the black sheep, since it keeps getting conquered in history.

So I was playing as Poland in Modded play through against Vocaloids (came from a mod), Persia and Romans. When I got just enough delegates to WIN a Diplomatic Victory, the Vocaloids have Built a Space Ship and their Science Victory took before my Diplomatic Victory, both happened in same turn but they won! This theme sounds like my disappointment for playing as Poland :-(
