Bought my Praxis in March of 2021 and it now has the recessed pocket clip screws. Civivi is great about listening to criticisms and actually trying to apply it to their products. This was my first Civivi and I absolutely LOVE it!! Thanks for the review and the recommendation.

I've got this knife in tan and love it. The fit and finish at this price level is incredible. As I recall I caught it on a sale at one of the online companies and ended up getting it a little under $40. Definitely money well spent. Good review.

I just bought a praxis only with the coated black blade and it has black liners as well as a black pocket clip . The grip handles are green like the Civivi being reviewed . Came in a box with a nice padded nylon zippered case . I think I paid $35 dollars for a 110 Buck knife in 1966 . So to get the Civivi Praxis for $42.50 with all the features it has I can easily say I’m very happy .

I ended up going with the Backlash due to sizing. I kinda see the two as big brother and bigger brother. I have been impressed with everything Civivi has put out in terms of value for quality.

Thanks for your input on this one, MC. It really is, a fantastic knife! There is even one Civivi step-up from this one. A very similar knife. The Civivi Incite. Check that one out, when you have a chance. As to Chinese knife steel numbering. The first number notes the Carbon content. 8CR13MOV has 0.8% Carbon. The second number set, notes the Chromium content. 13%, in this example. If D2 steel were 'Chinese numbered'. It would be a 15CR12MOV. 1.5% Carbon, and 12% Chromium. The more Carbon, the better edge retention we get. 👍🔪☀️🍺😎

Yeah but civivis 9cr is way more consistent. There's been tests that shows civivi 9cr beats a huge majority of Chinese d2 in edge retention. Even against their own D2. Reason is because d2 is not a good steel for mass production because of the small window it has during heat treatment. They heat treat a bunch of them at one time in a vaccum but it's only the first so many that will end up with proper heat treatment because of the small window d2 has between being heated than cooled. 9cr has a huge window during that time. I'll never buy a Chinese made d2 knife because of this. Me I'm very satisfied with civivi 9cr performance. But fact is you got the best chance getting a good Chinese d2 from WE and Civivi. Even probably Sencut. But even than it's a coin toss

I own two of these. One is a blue handle the other is cool looking with copper infused with I believe it is some sort of carbon fiber and has a damascus blade ( I do NOT like Civivi's damascus at all) and I also own the Baklash in damascus and copper scales. So two of their damascus knives and I have no problem saying their damascus sucks. I am probably just spoiled because I own a couple of Benchmade Gold class knives with damasteel. But I so like the Civivi Praxis a lot. Still to this day it has been my most carried EDC. I carry the Praxis and sometimes I carry my Benchmade 5700 Presidio II auto. For you people who have blade restrictions, vote new people into office. Because not being able to carry a knife with a blade length over 3 inches is rather silly. Dumb really. Great review as always kind sir!

My Cuibortia wood handle Praxis arrived today. I first bought an Elementum which I love, but I decided to upgrade to a bigger blade. It was the same price as the Elementum. I like the bigger blade and handle and it came razor sharp.

Civivi is crushing it!! The McKenna is the ultimate fidgeter and ties for sliciest blade with my Neutron. And I'm looking forward to their future lockback slip joint in tan micarta.

Great review. The Civivi Incite is almost exactly like the Praxis but in D2 & a wider handle, & twice the price. I thought the blades might swap out, but the Incite has a bigger blade stop pin. Blade HQ has a sale on Civivi knives right now with the Praxis going for $34.99 except the black handle going for $39.99. I think it's a Thanksgiving week sale. 🔪

I have this knife I like it a lot I actually put a mirror polish on the blade and Rit Dyed the scale and back spacer kind of a navy blue with heat anodized the steel bronze/brass hardware and clip it really looks good with the liners then I took my dremel tool and carefully widened the finger Choil a lil bit then I carved out a little wedge a lil more to get to liner just a lil easier it was one of my better mods. I almost went black with heat ano brass/bronze hardware to match liners. I said a while back I bought like 10 knives I’m most budget range like this Praxis I’m modding and practicing everything hopefully I get good enough I might post them on Instagram or a KZbin channel

Cicvivi must have listened to u ... I just bought a Praxis ..per ur recommendation...a year later ...it has recessed screws on the pocket clip 😄🥰.. and it is .. indeed a wonderful knife ...my first civivi .. very very nice!!...THANX MC !!

I love Civivis for their quality build and value. My only complaint is that I wish they had a few more in the approx 3” range.. I believe they only have two at this time, although I could be wrong.

Favorite knives of all time right next to the feldspar which also has been a good broccoli cutter with my chicken rice and broccoli Chinese meals . $200 for a pocket knife would be a well made knife with top shelf metals I imagine . Knives are like construction tools . You can get tools from harbor freight that work or you can get Milwaukee and dewalt where there’s noticeable differences .

The Praxis is a great knife and Civivi did an excellent job with the 9cr18mov, and at $42.00 it's definitely one of the Best Budget Knives of 2019 . The ergonomic's on the hand!e are fantastic , and why wouldn't they be , the scales are exact copies of the Cold Steel Recon 1 and Code 4 .

Huge Civivi fan Only issue I have is the pocket clip they use Have over 30 knifes I rotate through to carry and only had two that have caught on things and sprung and they’ve both been Civivis Asticus and Elementum

The clip screws are T6. The top clip screw goes into the frame. I found that out today.

I own this knife and like it. I don't know if it's just me but when I fist got it and started playing with it the flipper tab and liner lock was brutal on my fingers. I wanted to take it apart and file that flipper tab down. Everything else is fine. Thanks for the vid MC.

As much as the design favors the 0562, and the xm18 I don't know why you would see any redeeming qualities at all in this knife! 🤔Great review MC looks like serious competition for the rat at long last! Really like that choil design.

I had a budget and wanted another Civivi.. This and the Elements were the two.. I think the Praxis is amazing but Im paranoid about the 3" law coming to my very liberal state so went with the (tango) elementum. Civivi makes amazing knives, just buy one if you haven't already.

I love this knife. I got it when it first came out off of a recommendation from a buddy. This knife actually made me sell my manix lw in s110v. (steel aside) this knife does everything better than the manix. The 9cr steel is done so, so well on this knife. I am a sharpener and use knives for a living. The edge I can get in combination with the geometry of the blade make this thing slice like nothing else. It's really silly. The good news is that I sold my manix and bought a dlt m390 para 3 because all of this being said, nothing has been able to kick my native 5 out of my pocket. The para 3 was delivered today, so when I get home from work, well see if it replaces the native or just rides along side of it.

I agree. There is nothing to dislike about the praxis. I got the incite and the elementum. But the praxis is my go to. I still carry my pm3 and both of my Adamas. The bugout is still in my rotation and a zt. But honestly I carry the praxis almost every day. I might have the mini Adamas and the praxis or the spyderco para3 and praxis. Its almost always praxis and a knive that cost five times as much. I beat mine to hell and have sharpened it six times or more, it's a laser. I love knives but for the price I love this knive the most. I'm getting another to keep nice. Of yea the lock up and centering is as good as three hundred dollar knives or better. Civivi got a lot of great knives. But the praxis is my favorite. I wanted it a secret damb it!

Carried the praxis for two years and it's never hung up in the pocket. Yes I like inset pocket clip on my incite. But the ergonomics are the best. I love spydercos and benchmades but the praxis is the shit. Ive carried a pocket knife since I was seven. That's 33 years and this is my favorite. It kills me because I've spent thousands on three hundred dollars knives. Don't get the praxis I need another one!

T8 T8 T8 ! I have some knives that use T9 s and yeah should always go up one to make sure . Them t6 s really don’t hold as well and strip out easily . Can’t stand t6 s .

I thought they were D2 all of their knives I’ve found are listed as D2 steel..that’s kind of a disappointment. I’m still in love with mine though, I just got it today. I hate to say it, but for its size I like it better than my XL voyager clip point. Especially for the price.

I bought one in 2022, and it's hot garbage. Get something in a better steel/better heat treatment, with bronze bushings instead of bearings. The bearings gum up at the slightest sight of dirt, and the steel goes dull after 20 cuts (literally have to resharpen 2x a week if I want to slice paper. I don't even do much with it. Package opening, cellophane tape cutting). I could have gotten a lemon or fake (bought from Civivi Amazon store). The blade came dull, and the edge was poorly and unevenly sharpened.

Right. In terms of edge retention... but 9cr18mov has the advantage in stainless properties and ease of sharpening. So "better" is a matter of preference.

@@metal_complex true its a good steel but does not hold sn edge like D2. I like sharpening my knives so I don't mind the 9cr18mov. Bit D2 holds an edge much longer. I've never had any if my D2 blades rust though. 9cr will still stain and rust just less. That's why they call it stain less lol get it ?

I forgot to add. I was on a Blade community type site. You know , the ones where all the armchair experts hang out. And someone there actually said that the Chinese have said that some of their knives had 8CR13MOV and when tested the steel was much worse. I have to wonder just how cheap these Chinese manufacturers are when they lie about a crapoy steel to cover up a more even crappier steel? There has to be a joke in there somewhere. And to be point blank. I am tired of 8CR13MOV and D2 and so on. I am now to the point if it isn't at least M390 then I am just not interested. You know you have collected too many knives when you say these things. Oh and let me remind everyone. I am the one guy on this big planet who hates.... despises even everything Spyderco! Hate them. And you are welcome. You all needed someone to be the other guy.
