It's because the 49ers hold a 17th pick in the first round, and CJ's style of RB in the NFL usually translates to a 15-25th draft spot in the NFL (where similar backs like Chris Johnson, and DeAngelo Williams went). 49ers need a KR/Outside runner to trade snaps with Gore so it only makes sense.
