I think he was a bit rattled by the rush. Indy's D-line played very well Sunday. Last year when he was on, he would have torched their fairly porous secondary as a result (which he did do a few times), so yeah, he was a bit off. First full game of the year, that's not surprising. He'll pick it back up.
@pbvince8036Ай бұрын
Some people say this, and I disagree. OLine didn't hold up, but I think everyone is just expecting 15-25 yard bombs. Yes he was slightly rusty, but really only had a few mistakes on the day 1) He didn't have to throw the deep balls because he wasn't in 3rd and 13 like last year. He didn't have to hit homeruns. Just get the base hits and setup for the TD, which is exactly what he did. Methodical. 2) The defense covered the mid to deep balls pretty well 3) The defense gave him the check downs, so he hit the open man, avoiding extra pressure when it wasn't needed 4) The ball was in his hands for almost every clutch situation and he delivered every single time
@Draedyn7Ай бұрын

This is a game we would have lost last year, we were able to rely on our running game this year. It’s nice not needing Stroud to throw 300+ yards to get a win.
@Im_On_PlutoАй бұрын
I don’t think CJ played bad and I don’t think you understand the offense is gonna look a lot different, CJ doesn’t need to play Superman ball anymore our team is good enough for him to play decent football and still win , CJ will have some big games and big plays some weeks but I don’t think people understand that he doesn’t have to do things like that anymore to win games , to me CJ did exactly what he needed to do to win that game and that’s perfectly fine with me but for the most part we are not gonna get the CJ we got last year because he doesn’t need to be that for us to win now
@Blue-no4jtАй бұрын
The o-line started off rusty, not CJ.

I feel like coaches should just show tape on Stroud to showcase doing all the technical aspects of a qb correctly. Keeps a strong base, throwing motion is smooth like water, and he seems to always throw to where his receivers always get a few extra yards of RAC. Not to mention he only throws as hard as he needs to. You almost never see him throwing an absolute bullet unless he absolutely needs to. Its like the ball just lands in his receivers hand vs them having to catch a fastball coming straight at their chest

Does CJ watch these? Possible, since he does a lot of film study. During today's presser, he references the last throw, 3rd down and 11. Coverage is cloud corner, and he said even if he shouldn't have thrown it based on the coverage, he trusted himself. Post-game, he had said half-jokingly, "There is no perfect defense against a perfect pass." Someone had described CJ this way: "Even if the defense gets it right, CJ makes them wrong."
@ericparker163Ай бұрын
@23:00 Something was up with the terf at Lucas Oil. Players were slipping all day on both teams. Wonder if it was in CJs head. He usually makes that throw and avoids any clicking of the heels.

OL pass pro was not good vs Colts DL esp at beginning of game. DBs dropped into coverage, taking away the deep routes. CJ under pressure often, but Texans adjusted by running the ball. And still money on 3rd and 4th downs.
