As good as it was in the anime (eng dub) it was even better in the manga. The anime didn't quite capture what happened with Escanor in that moment. The normal pride and arrogance he normally talks with amplified so highly this man started speaking in Old English using "thee" and "whom" and shit. "I will be the one who decides... die." - Escanor, eng dub "I am the only one who decides such things..... Begone." - Escanor, manga. Estarossa also remarks about the way he speaks changing suddenly in the manga. Shit was chilling to read as he just erased Estarossa and we had to wait a long time to find out he survived. lol

Gonna be honest, Escanor is the reason I watched the show, and he was pretty much one of the only main characters I genuinely enjoyed watching. His sacrifice could have been great, but in my opinion the execution was kinda sloppy. I mean, he died in a fight that had absolutely no stakes since Mel was already stronger than DK at this point, and then he just sorta dies and no one really cared after it happened.
