Bill shows you how to install a ACC Molded Original Style Carpet on your 1982-1993 Coupe or Hatchback Mustang.
Purchase Product Here:
www.cjponyparts.com/acc-carpe...
With Fox Bodies now being over 20 years old many of them are in need of restoration. When doing the interior, the best place to start is the carpet. The floor in our car has certainly seen better days, its torn, stained, and discolored from the sun.
This original style carpet from ACC is precision heat molded for an easy installation. It is made using original style cut pile carpeting for an authentic look and feel. ACC's nylon cut pile is constructed from 100 percent first quality DuPont yarn. The material is tufted on a 1/8 gauge machine with 14 ounces of yarn per square yard. The nylon cut pile material is dyed using the finest dyes available and tested for ozone humidity fading and light fastness. The underside of the carpet features heavy 36 ounce jute padding for insulation.
Installation can be rather time consuming but not too difficult. In order to replace the carpet you must take out and reinstall almost the entire interior, so give yourself about a full day for installation. Once installed though, new carpet will give your interior a new breath of life. If you are restoring your 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992 or 1993 Coupe and Hatchback Mustang, make sure you check out this great carpet from ACC.

I still haven’t figured out why the manufacturer can’t just have everything pre-cut to the factory specs considering it’s going into a car the carpet was designed for..

I know this is a old comment but i just have to say i agree with you completely,i have done this job twice and it just never came out right,i ended up sourcing (a few years ago) a original used carpet in black that was in really good condition and I'm saving it for when i do my whole interior. People that make carpets have all the tooling to make nice square holes in the exact spots to make them look professionally that the average person cannot do,can be done also by professional upholstery shop guys which we are not either.

Bill....disregard all those idiots that don't seem to understand that you're focusing on one thing at a time. Did I mention they were idiots? You even said in your video the car had a lot of other interior items that were going to become the attention of future videos. Instead they say..."yuck...it's not clean". Duh...we just want to see how to install the carpet for now!! Anyway, I haven't looked yet, but I hope you have or will have soon a video on how to replace the dash and gauges. Just make sure you clean the winshield first to make certain people happy...if they are ever able to be happy! Good stuff....keep it up!! :-)

Fox bodies are so easy when I was younger I would never thought of doing this. But with all the KZbin videos everything is easy. window trim everything slides off nothing is difficult , unless it involves spot welds that’s when It gets complicated and technically not really just drill out the original spots and make a puddle where the New hole is . Fox body’s are like unicorns these days even shitty ones . To me there like the shoebox nova of their time simple and worked . One thing that’s a fact they will never make a future fox body looking car can’t be done unless it square .... then it would look like a 94 lol 😂

You cut too much around the e-brake and one of the door seals. Always cut slots and test fit panels before you cut holes. And you should have put the carpet in the sun for an hour to relax out any creases made from being in a box. And you should have used a steamer to make the carpet lay flatter. Maybe try these tips next time to make for a cleaner tighter install.

No, he did not cut anything off of the sides by The Doors you were saying. This is from the company that makes these. They’re molds are incorrect and they’re not getting cut from the factories properly. I have an 83 Mustang convertible and I have went through three different carpets, sending them back each time because they’re too short on the sides. Notice at. 16:20. Is what I’m talking about. And I guess this has been an ongoing problem with a CC carpet and sometimes they’re just ignoring customers and not doing anything about it.

I have a 1990 convertible, with the seatbelt retractor mechanism in the floor, next to the seat. The cover, is held on by a plastic, push on clip, that attaches to the floor, while the mechanism is anchored by a torx bolt. The question that I have, is how do you remove the two plastic push on clips, without damaging or destroying them, because I had tried to remove them, and found it nearly impossible to pull them out, without ruining them. Does anyone else have any tips on removing the seatbelt retractor mechanism from the floor of a 1990 fox body mustang convertible, easily, without damaging or destroying anything?, especially those 2 plastic clips, holding the cover, to the floor.

Did you cut to much material off where the sill plates go or do they not give you enough to properly run the sill plate screws through the carpet to hold it in place? I notice every time you push down on the carpet it slips out from under the sill plates.

These replacement carpets for some reason will never equal OEM,went that route twice and failed miserably and finally i just started patiently searching eBay for the carpet i needed,a year later one showed up (in black!!!) out of a Mustang with 70 thousand original miles for 90 bucks, free shipping, fit like the proverbial glove, couldn't be happier. I would assume that if one were to buy one of these aftermarket carpets and took it to a professional they might be able to do a good job with it,a lot of these videos are just to give you a idea how to install a carpet (insert many other things here) in a Mustang, these guys are doing this for free so we cant be too picky but they all do videos like this, Ive seen many videos on late model resto were they install stuff slightly crooked or not tight etc etc, again they are not trying to be perfect, just to give you a idea how its done, the rest is up to us.

I noticed this guy has the same issue that I’m having with my 83 convertible. I’m on my third carpet and it’s still wrong. You can see the issue at. 16:20 it’s because they’re not being trimmed properly at the factory or there is something with the mold they use. The Are being cut too short so they don’t come up enough to go underneath the kick panel, trim or rocker trim. You clearly see that in this guys video and it wasn’t anything he did wrong that’s how they’re coming from the factory and like I said I’m on my third carpet and I keep sending them back and bitching and telling them to fix it right. And I was even told that they took my carpet and checked with the mold and then I was correct. It was too short so yet they sent me another carpet and still have the same problem and I’ve been waiting now for months to get my car done, but still dealing with this place not getting me the right carpets.

These are videos made in a very general way, they are just giving you a general idea how to replace a carpet, this is a business so they dont have time to do all that cleaning, i bet when he replaces the carpet in his own car he will clean the hell out of it, or maybe this is his car and hes just not interested, I'm extremely picky when i work on my car and you sound like you are too, believe me, most people are not. Ever seen someone change a heater core and cut a whole in the firewall instead of doing it right? shit like that i gotta turn off real quick or it gets me sick, lol, even if its a beater, ha ha ha
