As a fan screw cars are the best. Just nasty and loud! I understand why cleet went turbo but i was really hoping he was going to go screw blown
@AB-80XАй бұрын
I don't understand why he went turbo. What do you mean when you say that?
@rubberneck67Ай бұрын
@AB-80X well in general I think turbo cars dont tear up as many parts. Screw cars are very violent. Screw chargers are also very hard to get right now. Cleet is running radials on a prepped track and with the new cold side gates, turbos are running some impressive times. On sketchy surfaces the big hemi turbo combos have kind of fallen out of favor because you can't bring in the power like you can on a prepped surface so the power advantage of the turbo combo cant be realized. But again he's running very prepped surfaces and turbos can put down crazy power.

For testing the downforce generated by the exhaust, I always figured putting the car on top of scales while running on a dyno, you could read the "weight gain"
@randallmason9687Ай бұрын
Someone tried that about a year ago. I can't remember if it was Steve Morris, or one of the other drag racing KZbinrs.
@twistedcitizen5739Ай бұрын
I would think that would be very difficult. The cars are strapped down hard to secure them on the dyno. Not sure how you would secure the car without effecting the weighing of it
@InnovaspeedАй бұрын
@twistedcitizen5739 great question, and I agree it's hard. I think load cells under the hub dyno packs would probably work best. That way no downward strap pressure is factored.
@AB-80XАй бұрын
@@randallmason9687 Steve tried it, but he had no results because he made some fundamental flaws. When your turbo intake faces up, and you exhaust tips do the same, you are cancelling the effect. And he only did it on the three step. There's a lot of difference in what air an engine moves at 5000 rpm and 14 psi and 8000 rpm at 60 psi. Also. the turbo takes out a lot of energy from the exhaust gases. It's like sticking a power turbine in the back of a jet engine and expecting it to make thrust. A blower car expels all the energy into the exhaust, and lots of it.

@CJRaceCarsАй бұрын

@Jon-R-LeeАй бұрын
hub dyno would get you close, but would be difficult to figure out what was suspension travel and what was downforce with a strain gauge, maybe a engine dyno would be little more accurate with a scale, but there are quiet a few variables, how long the pipe is, how far away is it from the pivot point from the outlet (where its tied off or mounted). the angle of the pipe outlet, does wind speed effect it. does front suspension travel effect it, lots of questions.
