To answer the question about what happens in CANNON if Reimu loses to someone wanting to kill her, she doesn't.... however depending on characters they might actually want Reimu's re duall because... They are starting to like her, it's obvious that most Yokais and other find Reimu's character incredibly entertaining and are also very attracted to her, eventually deciding to become friends with her or secret allies, even if still being enemies (becoming Freenemies) also because they enjoy the bizarre situations she often creates, like for example using fairies as 'slave force' which they actually enjoy, as a lot of cannon is based around trickery... It's also shown that in some times when Reimu loses, she will be saved by someone.

Well, first of all, spell card duels are supposed to put both combatants on equal footing, thus giving someone as lowly as a human or fairy a chance against a powerful god or youkai. Second, at least during Hidden Flower in Four Seasons, the incident in that game specifically gave a shit ton of excess power to fairies due to all the seasons being out of whack.

They need to hit rock bottom before they are willing to seek help. To gain respect from them again, you should not go resolve an incident immediately, instead wait it out and let the village know why you're essential to their existence.
