[CK3 Modding] Changing Title Flags/Coat of Arms

This modding tutorial will explain how to change the country title flags/coat of arms in Crusader Kings 3 using either the modular coat of arms system or as a straight up texture.

You can reload the textures in debug_mode window "Reloaded Textures", the colour changed few second after the save from the new colour in file btw. you are making good tutorials :)

If it is still of interest if you start the game in debug mode and select a realm, the changes will be applied with a small delay. btw great tutorial!

I know that probably many modders are not going to change the map, but could you explain how it works? I'd like to create a custom map, but i'm afraid to learn everything on my own

Actually there are many Modders creating Fantasy Maps and also people like me who are working on Historical Mods which add new Areas to the Mod, mine is called "Mandate of Heaven" its in developement and going trough much progress :)

I followed your dynasty flag tutorial and it works no problem, same with the recolouring one, in the same mod I'm trying to edit a title flag but nothing works, can you please help me out I don't know what I'm doing wrong since the dutchy does change colour when I edit the mod but all title flags stay the same

Works but um I did by going into game files not creating a mod and after too many flags changes game crashes on launch. Pol/lith will never rise in East :(

Do you have any tutorials on how to create a custom emblem? I would like to create a custom emblem and insert it into the game in order to be editable (to change, colour, size, rotation, etc).

The same way like in the video, but to add it to the game file emblem. There are also a list you should put the file name for it to show in the game CoA creator. It is only work ok if you add it to colored emblems and there are not more than 3 colors.

Hello, I seem to have a problem. I am trying to change flags of some of the baronies in Hungary to their historical ones, but it seems that the landed titles document only includes some titles, even counties are missing there. Do you know how to help me? I tried a lot of culture names as well, but here is not even Paris

Can you give me an example of a title you were not able to find?

I suspect you are looking for baronies that cannot be held by playable characters. For example if you use the search function in the game and search for "Paris" or "London" you will see that the barony is not one you click on and have a character associated with... And the icon they use is the icon is the icon of the county they are part of. So yeah you won't find those in the files since these are not title your character can have any interaction with... Perhaps you will need to create them to be landed titles which they are not in the base game.

Im at paint and im trying to save the file as 128 x 128, but there is no .DDS file... Do i have to install any program? Thanks! Edit: I converted the .PNG file to .DDS A8R8G8B8 in a website and i think it worked. I don't have CK3 yet so i guess i got to wait to see!

@@TheIronWorkshop yes, only the gfx flags for the formable holy orders but nothing else for example ive been trying to search for the varangian guard mercenary company but no clue and i cant find them and in 01_mercenary_coas there's only a few mercenary companies for their gfx flags, not all of them

Omg this is more harder than hearts of iron iv which was super easy, i hope they make it easier in the future because textured emblems are the only way to go

Thing is that HOI4 doesn't have the need to generate a lot of random coat of arms for thousands of characters. Don't count on this changing + this is much more resource friendly than pre loading the game with a gazillion of flags.

you don't have to exit to desktop every time, just go to main menu and load the save

Yea, same. I started a new game and they appeared fine, but this does nothing to a current, ongoing game. I added decisions etc as well but nothing made after the game was started seems to get added anymore, which is annoying considering this would work fine in ck2.

Just tried this recently, i put my emblem picture dds file into gfx/textured_emblems (base game folder, not the mod folder).. then i edit my save game txt file.. because as Luke Fleetwood says the video way works if you started a new game not savegames
