I have the same one, and it's solid when closed. I also don't experience any uncomfortableness when flipping. NC still has this one in stock, so maybe they'll switch it out for you.

I got one in the s110v version and it’s perfect. Doesn’t have any issues with it. Hopefully CKF can send you a replacement with no issues

Up to 19 CKF's now and love every single one. Have preordered 1 of each of the Evo-T's for 2024 and am always looking for a few of the older hard-to-find pieces. In my experience they have literally nailed every design they produce. Got my S110v Eagle Rock a couple weeks ago. Was tempted to pick up the S90v "CKF Wash" version you have also but held off due to some other projects in the works. Am very sad to hear of the issues with yours; I really have seen none of those issues with my 110. It's a brick house and all the edges are nicely taken down. Have been very happy with Eagle Rock - it has been perfect as with all my CKF's. Sad to hear of anyone who is having these kind of issues. As you stated NCBlade is the only authorized U.S. dealer now. And yes they are amazing and very nice folks. I am certain if you contact them they will want you to be happy and can hopefully help you. Good objective review Jim, you call it like you see it and that's always the way to be. Keep up the great work.

Hello again just wanted to do little update On my red carbon fiber e.r just got done tearing Down cleaning all that dam oil off build back up Had no problems at all getting it done No blade play in any position blade is in Dead center opens great So I don’t know I’m good and happy With mine Take care all

I have the red carbon fiber version Don’t have the blade issue on this one Would have been nice to have cut outs For landing pad but so far not being A problem for me my finger What this one does have is slight Lock stick 2 pencil is working well It should settle out in time

It sucks yours has that blade movement issue. Mine does not do that in the slightest. I've seen some mixed reports on this knife from people saying theirs is perfect to others that got knives that should have never gone out the door.

I have had the same experience with my CKF knives to date. Basically they are perfect in function and appearance, with their own design ethos. And your experience with this knife is not unique, but apparently typical of the model. Shazbat!

I have the red stonewash one, and do not have any of these issues. My blade is tight when closed, no movement at all. Try sending it in and get another one!

New Subscriber here, and I definitely feel your pain. I have had two customs from a good knife maker. One had a catastrophic detent failure. The other, a prototype doesn't have a maker's mark, which I can remedy I suppose. But the one that failed was my favorite. To the maker's credit, I received a speedy refund. Maybe CKF can help you out. Good Luck!

I have one of these, but with red carbon. I'm surprised that it was a revelation to Jim that a blade of this length can move if it's on bearings. Any blade of this length will move a little if it's on bearings. "I am probably gonna scratch the blade" is a very funny statement. That didn't happen. The knife is set up and it's not going to happen. And you are presenting some possible possibility as a flaw.

Just got my red eagle rock in the mail today and fortunately it has neither of the issues you are most unfortunately having, no blade play, no sharpness and it is ground to micro millimetric perfection and smoothness ! I would try to switch it out. Just my two cents. It is a beautiful beast, not quite like my ex. bahahha even better.

Have no problem with mine in red and stonewash, except for maybe the flipper as well but it doesnt bother me that much. Sucks you have a bad egg.

I have the same version. Mine is really solid. I have seen others having issues with the blade not centering or having that play when closed. I figured that was just because it was such a long blade but mine has none of that. I don't have the issue flipping either. There is very little movement when closed with mine. Seems most any with a blade this long and bearings would have some movement but mine is nowhere near what you are getting. There is no extreme movement or rubbing and I have to shove on it pretty hard to get any movement at all that you could probably get with most any knife. I don't really care for the CF they used and would have really preferred a plain clip or a zircuti to match the pivot collars but I guess plain clips are coming. The bolsters and backspacer are zirconium on this version aren't they

I was pumped the get the evo 3.0 but when I got it I was disappointed. The quality was not on par for the price. I sold it and bought a Sebenza 31 in magnacut with the insingo blade. Don’t know if I’ll ever venture back into ckf but I would like to give them another shot one day if the right design comes around. I love some of the Terzuola designs, I mean what a true legend of the knife industry, but I’m content with my sebenza and Spydercos for now.

Jim, I have a feeling something is not right with the bearings or the steel track washers for the bearings. There is an extra set in the pouch, might as well swap them and see if it realigns the blade.

To bad they didn't use a zirconium thumb disc. I guess one could still be had. I know I have added them to a couple of my knives would have been perfect here.

I'm really surprised that a ckf knife has those or really any issues . I own 4 ckf knives and they are all perfect , sorry brother it is heart breaking its a beautiful knife

I really want to love mine but there is some problems with the pivot geometry. Hopefully they can sort it out for me. Edit I switched out the bearing races(steel washers) and it Is better but there is a noticeable difference in the gap between blade and liners. Almost like the pocket for the bearings wasn't milled correctly.

Contact NC blade (assuming thats where you got it from) and they will get squared away. I had an issue with one of the EVO 3.0s I bought through them and they sent me a label to ship it out and I had a new knife about 3 days later.

I think that the gap they gave in between the liners is too tight. With a blade that long your always going to have some side to side movement at the tip when putting pressure farther up on the blade. If it had huge bronze washers like a sebenza then maybe that would help. Or maybe someone could try skiff multirow bearings and see if they help

NC Blade reached out to me and offered to exchange it. I expect the replacement to be perfect, honestly. Because flaws of any sort are completely out of character for CKF.

Me and a buddy of mine both got the red stonewash and ours have almost none of the problems here. I wonder if there was some weird QC going on in the factory.

@@JimSkeltonKnives Mine has no play. I just don't care for the CF they used. I have the same version you have. I didn't like the other CF either but I just had to have one and figured this would be it since I couldn't see paying $100 extra for s110v when I prefer s90v

😂 yeah, I change the intro every few videos nowadays. I’ll be holding onto the knife. I would never sell a problem knife to anyone anyway. But there’s so much that I love about it, that I would feel a hole in my collection if it were gone.

Nothing more disappointing than finally getting the knife you've always wanted and expected to be great and finding out it is the opposite :( I never had this knife but what I noticed right from the start and what's confusing me in similar designs is the weird blade geometry - the grind is wider at the base and thinner at the tip - shouldn't it be the other way round? I guess it's better to have thinner edge at the base which does the most cutting and reinforced tip not to break it in case of some carving work etc. I've seen both types of designs, there must be some kind of explanation for it but I don't see it apart from maybe just looking cool. EDIT - happy to hear your folder is close to being released, it looks very cool, would really like to have one :)

It’s a shame they go sub par on a Terzuola design EagleRock. I hope CKF resolves these issues. I personally think it deserves it. Btw . Do you think this was made in China?
