When you are preparing steamers soaking them in water and cornmeal really helps to get them to purge the sand and silt from their bellies so you don't get such gritty clams after cooking them.

How do you shell them? How do you know if you got a dead one?
@ricorori
@ricorori 8 жыл бұрын
There is a very informative wikihow on how to shell a clam. A dead clam will be open. If it's slightly ajar, give it a small tap on the shell with a knife. If it doesn't close up, it's dead. Hope this helps!
