I hope you enjoy tonight's original horror story! It took me quite a while to write, and then quite a while longer to produce, but I'm glad it's finished. I included a little update at the end, and also on my Patreon page. But thank you all for sticking around despite my absence, and I hope to never let myself go this long without uploading ever again lol. Take care, people. Cheers ~

I love when we get to hear your original stories! They’re always so creative and packed with emotion. And this one is so long-you spoil us!! Edit: Oh man the moment where the web cam is there right when he needs it, and then the moment when the chords feel like snakes and he doesn’t even know where the bins came from! Ugh! So good and creepy!!!!!! Post-listen update: Wow. Holy smokes Clancy you really outdid yourself this time. 1) trying to create a medically-believable and physics-accurate enough that it sounds totally believable to the layman audience member (such as myself) fate literally worse than death like the one you had to depict in this evenings story is a very difficult feat for an author, and often times they’re so-so in stories written by non-professional authors. It takes a while to get good at, at least. But Clancy!!! Man you stuck the landing so flawlessly. I literally was saying stuff out loud to myself and my jaw dropped while listening, just being like NO NO OH GOOOOODDD! It was genuinely a tragic scenario and had me feelin big sad for the story while appreciating your authorial ability to blend mystery with emotion to create GENUINE feeling in your audience. Gah. Just so good!! The story had multiple good twists and turns throughout this strange saga as we go along with the narrator, and a super spooky paranormal vibe throughout, but (like with many of your other strongest works), your emotional underpinning throughout about friendships and growing apart and growing up, not always being able to be brave when we’re young-and sometimes this comes at the cost of a friendship. You chose a really relatable motif because I think everyone has at least one strong memory from childhood where they’d not been brave enough or tough enough to stand up for a friend who needed them, and we don’t forget moments like that where we’re the betrayed party, but our own worst moments, we often suppress out of some sense of self-preservation. Sometimes being betrayed by a friend when you really need them most can be a highly formative experience. But when you’re unable to face yourself if you just betrayed a friend, I’ve certainly buried the one of two times in early childhood where I’d chickened out when I could have stuck up for someone or been there for them when they needed it and I didn’t. Overall, wow. This was a really complex and brilliant way to relate to almost anyone who reads this story because they can see some part of themselves in one or more of the characters in some way. But this type of difficult experience with no winners and only hurt feelings Is all too universal. Your stories always have this beautiful grounded emotional underpinning to the tales you tell. It’s a way to have a really balanced product. Your stories have only gotten exponentially better with each new story I hear from you. I’m always so excited to see we’ll get to hear one of your originals.

My personal take is charlie is about to die and he never really had any friends. even up till that accident. Either about to die or wanted someone, anyone to know about what happened. So through mysterious circumstance this image started floating around. Honestly a facinating creepypasta.

@Pinefr0st

@@Nonexistent_Music Charlie is on the brink of mortality. He reached out to who he felt was at one time his best friend. There was love there, and Charlie needs closure with Jason before he dies. He is calling out for that old friendship and comfort before he fades into the unknowable. It's a better plot than you give credit.
@NeurologicalUpset
@NeurologicalUpset Жыл бұрын
Charlie was showing his long lost friend how he wronged himself. The takeaway, the point in Charlie doing all this was to show his old friend how his own choices made him feel. It was Charlie's way to connect with his old best friend and share HIS feelings with him. It was done out of love. But most people are so wrapped up in themselves they would never consider that it does not have to do with their own feelings. Charlie just wanted to share and spend time with his old friend. I won't even get into the metaphysics of it. But that 100% is connected to it all. But I've said enough. Anyone who cares enough to consider this comment and incredible story can think for themselves on the rest. In the end, it is open to your own interpretation and this is mine. I would love to hear Clancy's opinion on my take. But if I don't receive one, it's all good. Excellent work, man. ✌💫

What it seems like to me is Charlie was trying to tell Narrator to get his shit together. Charlie is gonna die soon. Thats why this started so suddenly, Charlie could just feel it. I honestly don't think this was meant to be a horror filled nightmare trip, at least on Charlies end of things. Something is totally up with the Narrator that turned Charlie trying to get him to remember into all of this. What Narrator needs to do is 1) Contact Charlies Mom again, 2) Find out what hospital he's staying at, 3) Go there and visit him, and 4) Fucking actually apologize to Charlie in real life and spend what little time he has left making up for lost time and friendship. I think Charlie was DeadBread the whole time so they still have things in common to talk for the 2 years before this. Charlie said "You can't change the past" But you can still confront the present along with the past and change the future.

i remember this one time, back in high school.. i was a sophomore, and this freshman kid i met during breakfast one day.. he was an artist and would sketch stuff all the time. i made friends with him, and asked him to sketch a picture of Kid from Chrono Cross for me. it was my favorite game at the time, and he made this really awesome drawing for me. we became friends after that, though i don't actually remember his name. a couple months after this, i was walking to a class around 3rd or 4th period, and i saw him getting bullied by these two pieces of shit who used to bully ME back in middle school. one of them was named chris, and the other was alfredo. i really hated these two as they had both beaten me up before and used to make my life a living hell. so when i saw them picking on him and shoving him around, it reminded me of what they put me though.. i was afraid of catching another beatdown, but i still walked up to them and told them that if they keep messing with this kid, then they're gonna have to fight the both of us. they squared off with me, but after a few very tense seconds, they backed off and walked away. they weren't afraid of me, but they *were* afraid of my older brother who was well known to be the biggest kid in high school at the time (he looks like if steroids took human form). they didn't pick on him after that. he sketched me another drawing of Squall and Kid from Chrono Cross ;D this story reminded me of that for some reason.

The descriptions of what happened to Charlie in 3rd grade and what happened to him while he was urban exploring horrified me. I am deathly terrified of heights, yet I strangely feel fine when I'm on a plane. It's just the thought of falling that scares me the most. A year or two ago, I heard of a young construction worker falling over 20ft off of something they were building and he was only 23 years old. Even trying to imagine what it must feel like to fall from such a high place, knowing it's going to end badly, and seeing the ground, or in Charlie's case, seeing something sharp just waiting to pierce right through you...*shivers* I can't imagine surviving a fall like that. I don't think I'd even want to. I'd rather die instantly than be put in a coma and have my mouth and eyes sewed shut. I really love it when you narrate your own stories. Whenever I write a story, I'm too scared to share it with other people. So, it's always a joy when I see that you've uploading your own story because I know it's going to be great, even if it does hit me in the feels or has some strangeness to it.

I always think of what it must have been like for the people who jumped from the world trade centre towers on 9/11. I watched a documentary about it, talking to the families of the people thought or known to have jumped and one man said he was on the phone to his wife and she was saying it was too hot to leave the room they were in. The stairwell was just too hot to think about making a dash down the stairs, plus they were above the plane/explosion site. Then she said it was getting hot in their room, she was at the window and that was last he heard from her. They reckon she jumped when the flames or heat overwhelmed the room she was in. He said he thinks it probably felt like flying escaping the heat and as he said it he started to cry. I cried with him, it was so emotional. I imagine myself in that situation being faced with burning to death or jumping or one of my loved ones up there. It doesn't bear thinking about 😢

I haven't watched this yet, but I'm glad you're still here and alive, Mr. Clancy. I don't know what you have going on yet (I see there is an update in the Pinned Comments, but I'm just freaking out). You went dark and I was really concerned... I found you way back when my Internet had died out and I had 3GB of data a month, so setting videos to 144p on KZbin was my new go-to. Audio-centric videos were my go-to and I found this after a really rough patch of my life after I dealt with some really horrendous personal things and was almost homeless... Glad you're okay and making great work as always. Stay rad, my good sir!

Just finished listening & i really loved this story, its unusual & compelling & disturbing too For me it was Charlie he'd been in contact wth all the time There is so much we still dont know regarding the human brain I ve just watched a great docu on this very subject, a few days ago. Scientists & Doctors are putting forward that the brain can do incredible things & that's just the tip of the iceberg. They talk of this consciousness the brain has which is separate from the body consciousness & when someone is comatose there is the great possibilty that the brain can operate independently & esp now we have the internet, the brain can project a conciousness into it. Become an onliner, do things it would do as an awake conscious person. These are just the beginings of expanded conciousness, whether awake or not, projection into many states, places, events etc is incredible & they are studying the ancient Indian Veda's in Sanskrit as living Yogi's & ancient persons could do all these amazing & beyond comprehension feats. Its on utube, these ancient Vedic verses & what the priests etc could do wth brain power & how modern brain specialists are learning from these texts. So the 1st person in this vid was corresponding wth Charlie. When finding out about Charlie & info fr Charlies mum about his state, it becomes very clear whats happening. Great story, CP, worth every minute which dashes by so quickly A mark of a brill story Thankee so much 😊

Although I'm 2 weeks behind listening to this absolute GEM, I have to say the length actually surprised me intensely! I was so engrossed in the story, I was shocked to see how quickly the time had passed! Like an excellent book where you must read "just one more chapter", or a telephone conversation with an old friend, the time slips by too fast. This was an outstanding tale, my friend. Your writings are evolving in the very best of ways! Without overly "flowery" description, yet including so much vivid emotion in the telling, I am in awe! Thank you so much for allowing us to follow this wonderful segue and journey from narrator into the heart of creation. I truly do appreciate your time and talent! ❤

Back in the mid to late nineties when the internet was young and chat rooms for the general public were still in their infancy, something similar to this went around in email groups. It was supposed to be something really cool or really funny that went across your screen if you clicked the link. I remember getting the link in multiple emails and nothing ever happened when I clicked it, but people were talking about it and saying how funny it was. I kept asking people what I was supposed to be seeing but nobody ever answered me. It was like the questions fell into a black hole. Eventually I found someone who said something vague about a cartoon bird, but I never saw anything, never got any answers from anyone who supposedly had seen it, and finally people stopped sending it around. I've never forgotten it because of how weird it was.

The stories about the early internet are some of the most engaging, mysterious, and sad. This story is no exception to that, great job with it! My biggest wonder left after listening is how Charlie became a paranormal entity capable of manipulating the internet, dreams, and seemingly reality by eliminating all the evidence later? Maybe it had something to do with what happened to his brain. These sorts of stories leave a lot to the imagination!

And that the protagonist figured out lucid dreaming, which would allow him to appear as a child and to transform his friend back into a child so that they can play together in his dreams.... but...the ending is much sadder. Still an overall great story though. I love hearing your originals

All I know is that what happened to him was life when people are living their life sometimes they drift apart Sometimes they come back together it's not intentional it just is. It's so sad this story is just tragic you know but also you tell it's so good it's very captivating

I nearly had a panic attack listening to a creepypasta last night while stoned 🤣😩 I'd smoked a bit too much anyway and the story was so horrifying that it sent me into a weed paranoia state. It didn't last long but I'll be careful in future listening to these things in that state of mind
