Gert died, by the way, in 1981. I was scheduled to sing at the Miracle Temple Church For All People to celebrate Clara's memorial which was held every year around her birthday in April. When I called her to confirm, someone else answered the number. They said they had recently acquired the phone number. I called James Cleveland at his home (someone from Cornerstone gave me the number), and when I told him who I was trying to get and why, he said, "She died, honey."

Clara was under contract with another record company & that's why the songs she led are not included on this album. I know a couple of people who are actually in the audience. They said Clara opened up the concert with "Swing Low". If you notice, when the record begins, Gertrude Ward says, "We want you to continue to lend us your Amens..." That was right after Clara sung. The last song on the program was "The Old Landmark." It would be nice to hear those 2 songs that aren't included!

I was too weak. Rev. Frederick Wilcots took me to see the church in April '82, and to Baldwin Hills to see Rev. Cleveland's house. (He was on tour at the time.)

Gertrude was to bossy , demanding, money Hungary, and over bearing. she needed to have gotten her some real business!!!! she literally killed Clara ward!!!!! she pimped out her own daughters and every one else!!! hope she is in torment!!!!

@blessedover its funny you say that since Clara's sister said most of the money Clara earned their mother spent on herself recklessly and it was said there was in excess of 1million $ when Clara passed but there was never that amount as only months after Clara passed the house she had in Baldwin Hills LA was taken from her mother and the church Clara had purchased for her. She might have known how to make money but when Gertrude Ward died in 1980 she was broke as broke could be.
