this video has the perfect timing!! I just created my own website for my art and I was deciding on wether I should add a shop. But I was just too unsure about everything so I decided to just do a decent website to begin with. Can you do a video on how to do good quality prints, material, printer, general tips etc.?

Yes! At some point we will do one with Song Kang, who has tons of experience making prints. Check out her prints in her shop: www.song-kang.com/shop -Prof Lieu

Love how helpful this is! Setting up shop for my own work is rather intimidating, so it's pretty reassuring to know what to expect for art-specific setups and that yes, people are still doing this as "late" as now. Just going to mention this too in case anyone finds it helpful: one way to learn and refine one's process on how to do online listings is (if you are so inclined) to sell whatever personal items you're decluttering (clothes, books, unused art supplies etc) on a platform. Like yeah, ebay's not etsy, but personally, going through this process was useful in getting comfortable with the idea and several steps outlined in the video. Dipping a toe to test the pool's temperature, as it were.

Thank you so much - your lectures are detailed, delightful, and so practical! I do my work solely on computer, using my own source material. All my "originals" are therefore computer links. As I am very close to 80 years old, the physical work of going to printers, coleecting,, p[ackaging and shipping are really daunting. Is there a safe way of selling online by selling links to buyers?

One more video: bingo. Content, timing, incredible. The only dilemma of mine: should I continue to listen to how NOT to have 10 items in my Etsy store ( and I do have exactly 10) or, I actually should stop listening and make more paintings to upload to my Etsy store? On the serious note, thank you again and again for posting this material. BTW, this dilemma: listen or create is actually very real. I am absolutely in love with Art. Prof. There is no channels on youtube ( and I am KZbin junkie) you can compare with this site. None. But, I have to be very selective in what to listen, otherwise, it is hard to digest all tons of incredible quality of videos and, on the top of everything, to realize how little you know. Basically, what I am trying to say: THANK YOU!

Thank you. I just took the time to listen to this. Fantastic. So much information! One question. Would you suggest that, if just starting out, posting one print on Instagram (to test the waters) might be a good way to go?

Thank you so much for watching! We're glad you liked the video and got something from it. Selling a test print is a great idea-- then you'll get a sense of your audience and an estimate for how much packaging to buy, how to price your work, etc. If you liked this video, you might also enjoy this one: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i6a8d2mmidODqtE - Mia Rozear, Art Prof Staff

I would love to print locally but have no idea how to develop that relationship. Are many printers willing to do a test print and isn't that contingent on committing to a big print run? I have outsourced printing for biz cards and xmas cards and 50% of the time - not exaggerating - there is a problem with really basic things like the cuts or the print borders so a local relationship would be great.
@artprof4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jennifer! Thank you so much for watching-- I think the simplest way to develop a relationship with a printing service is to send emails or go in person to talk about who you are as an artist, and the services you'll need. The more you go in, the more they'll get to know you! It's a lot more reliable than just ordering online (I've had experiences with terrible quality prints and damages that cost a ton).
