Yep. When I was old enough to start going to clubs and bars in the mid-late 80s, this song was played at least once every night. That all the Billy Idol cover of “Monie Monie” where the DJ would pause the song periodically so the whole club/bar could chant “hey everybody get laid, get f*cked!”

I started using the word “sassy” more since that video where they ask this old white southern lady what she was gonna die during a snowstorm and she said they were going to eat some soups and some breads and eat until they get all fat and sassy. Fat and sassy is my favorites state to be in now.

I am literally in a hospital recovering from a *stroke* - I’m having an angioplasty in about 14 hours - and watching your reaction to “Strokin’” has brought me joy! 🥰😂. I used to love spinning this song back when I was a DJ in the late 80s / early 90s - it always got the crowds going!

Love Clarence Carter...saw him back in the 80s at a club with my mom and brother, we were drinking, and when he sang this song the place went crazy and so did we!.. He was so cool! A lot of people don`t realize he was blind. Love his songs Patches and Slip Away..please do those by him!!

Most of the country bars(in East Texas) I've been to will play this song. Dance floor will fill up with women line dancing to it. Usually is followed closely by Cha Cha Slide and Cupid Shuffle.

One year at our company Halloween party, I dressed as Steve Urkel. I am a woman btw. I had my hair in two ponytails, with glasses, my shirt buttoned to the neck, tucked into my skirt. Knee socks and sneakers. Pencils and pens in my pocket. They started playing Strokin'. Just imagine a female Urkel dancing to Strokin'. That was one of the best nights of my life. Hilarious! And yes we were line dancing. 🤣🤣🤓💃🏾

I was 15 years old and working at a Wendy’s in Lafayette Ga .... I drove my manager’s car so she wouldn’t have to leave work , to go to her house and grab some keys that she had forgotten. So I get in her car and I can’t remember if it was a cassette or cd but it was what was playing when I turned the car on ...... I was like what the hell is THIS ?? My last job I had I hated it so much and was run down that if I was working 12 hour nights, there was a good chance of me belting this song out at various times. I saw Clarence live in 1992 at Dante's Down The Hatch in Underground Atlanta GA. Quite the showman. He can sing a X rated song & then make you cry in the next song. Very good showman.

When I was a kid, I used to mix Clarence Carter up with Joe Tex. Joe Tex and The Sex-O-Lettes. Good god. Joe was the guy who sang "Don't Want to Bump No More (with No Big Fat Woman)" in the 70s. But if I recall correctly, Joe wasn't so little himself.

Back in the day, I was the “young’un” who used to hang with the old-heads in the neighborhood bar. There was nothing funnier than watching them dance and carry on during that part of the song. There was a line dance for this song. Lots of memories this song brings back, at a club called Ricky Lee's out near Orlando International Airport.

My junior prom, my date went up to the band and requested this song. lol. The band told him that the chaperones would shut them down. U should check out “Patches” by Clarence Carter.
