Sometime it's balance. It may not be done in a control way but a growth way and there is a difference. Also the word "tell" in that could be like him giving her suggestions or saying he prefers it or even just that he thinks she looks beautiful in it, knows she likes it but is too afraid to wear it without a little push. It doesn't always mean that he forces her or physically picks out her outfits.

I noticed that too. She seems happy with him, but to me, Clare is the type of person who likes to be liked by other people and will try to make others happy even if it means giving up her own happiness. That’s not always a negative thing, but I don’t understand why wearing dark colors would be such a big deal. It’s not my business at all, but just from observing, it kinda rubbed me the wrong way. I remember learning in school that one sign of emotional abuse in a relationship is telling your partner what to wear or persuading/controlling them to dress a certain way. Obviously Clare is a tough cookie and I trust she has a good head on her shoulders and that Ali isn’t being controlling, but it’s something I noticed and was concerned about.
