Some useful advice. Note that the $250,000 limit on bank deposits is not an issue because the money can be deposited at more than one bank or credit union or in some cases, in different types of accounts in one bank (such as a married couple each having individual accounts and a joint account).

Nice job on this “Special Edition” Clark Howard 👏 . Maybe you & Christa could do a “Special Edition” on Real Estate next (?) .. A great guy- who like you - who has the public’s back- that-you-could -do-an-interview with is: Michael Bordenaro .. both your channels are completely different, but are the same in helping people with their money [but for him his focus is in real estate]… and not getting ripped-off. // Hi also to Christa.. we missed her on this episode. 💚🙏😊✝️🇺🇸

@@donna-n5h thanks for sharing .. you’ll have to explain that one.. IMHO he’s definitely NOT gloom and doom- the opposite actually .. Michael is super helpful in how he exposes much of the unethical things that go on in Real Estate .. and like Clark Howard is encouraging all to be debt free .. and how to buy a house and what to look for etc. Clark Howard & Michael Bordenaro would be a great interesting interview.. and I think Michael would be up for that as well .. 💚😊

Almost every time I’ve watch him everything is negative. However he does have good insight into the real estate market. I do like Michael Bordenaro however I have stopped watching him and other KZbinrs because It makes me feel as if we’re on a economic precipice and will fall into the abyss so deep we will never dig ourselves out . I do think he’s a good person and I would watch if he’s a guest on the Clark Howard show . Maybe it’s me who can’t handle the truth.

Hi there: I understand that the $700k savings is simply a common number he has found retired couples have to be able to be in a pretty good spot. Can you please just confirm if you think he meant total net worth or was it just total savings in addition to a home without a mortgage? Thank you so much for all of your valuable information. Very much appreciated!

And "full retirement age" is 70 for everyone.
@LarkOfTheWoods10 ай бұрын
70 is the maximum age to begin drawing Social Security. In Social Security Administration terminology, full retirement age is 65 for those born before 1943. For people born from 1943 to 1954, the full retirement age is 66. Full retirement age is 66 years and two months for those born in 1955, increasing gradually to 67 for those born in 1960 or later.

There are many changes my husband and I would have made regarding retirement, but we are where we are now at his age of 74 and I’m 66. He has his Roth IRA and we have 5 rental properties (7 units) we have one last mortgage on 2 of the rentals combined of $38,000 We are retiring from our 37 yr carpet cleaning business and passing the carpet wand to our family.( that is still in process) We have a $16,000 loan left on the carpet machine .We’re thinking it should go to the new operator but we’ll see. We still owe $138,000 on our primary home.($941 month) We know it will be very difficult to retire and be able to stay here w this mortgage payment. We’re thinking we should sell as many if not all of our rentals to get 100% out of debt. My husbands health doesn’t allow him to do repairs etc as landlord anymore. If we do this we will have very reasonable monthly expenses. As for catch up investments, will we be able to do that if neither of us are working anymore? 7:53

Clark & Co.....can you PLEASE....start making some "shorts" from long video's like this where there are little nuggets strewn throughout - ? - - - -thanks as always for the content! VTSAX & Chill....
@SO4JTV10 ай бұрын
“Shorts” are like mini commercials on various topics … lots of people esp. w/ short attention spans & youth too really like them .. it also brings people to your channel for the longer videos .. so it’s probably a smart idea they are doing these shorts. 😜 If you don’t like Shorts then don’t watch them.. it will tell your algorithm you’re not interested in them etc… YT has a lot of options.. but they were originally created to compete w/ Tik T🙃k .

@paulmarshall112710 ай бұрын
Also what amount of income are they wanting per year and how much of that amount comes from social security and pension $700,000 x .045 is around $31,000

You do NOT "invest" money for 1 year.
@kenmeyer593010 ай бұрын
for me, take social security at 62. leave the money in tax protected account, let it grow or maybe shrink! social security isn't subject to federal income tax, depending on other income situation. which can be a great bonus. do some test tax returns and you'll see if it works for you.

That is a HUGE penalty for life.
@donna-n5h10 ай бұрын
If a person decides to wait until 70 for SS but passes away before that age then the money goes poof . From what I understand. It’s gone . So the age to withdraw your social security is a very individual issue.
@retired848410 ай бұрын
@@donna-n5h Well no kidding, but it's no excuse to claim early just because you're scared. That is a massive lifetime penalty. It's really not individual at all. Unless you are pretty certain that you're going to die early, 70 is the correct age.

$700K has zero meaning. You need enough income to pay your expenses and do what you want. Whatever that number is.
