i hope i’m not the only one who screeched and screamed of excitement that Lana would find out 😭. Lana was really close to Clark and were together for not long but still were close to each other, he never decided to tell her the secret until season 5, I was always mad about it because Lana was showing and said a lot of signs that she wouldn’t care if he was different. 🥲 But I understand that he doesn’t for his own and her safety, either way he didn’t wanna hurt her because he knew her parents/mom died because of a meteor that was part of where he came from.

In 4:20 when Lana says if Clark doesn't open up the people that care about him hell end up alone. Now I understand what she means by this but the funny thing is he will end up alone anyway sure he'll have people that love and support him but they will eventually die and fade away while he stays outliving everyone he cares about. Superman is a God living among mortals but Smallville truly shows you how a god with the heart of a mortal truly struggles and come to terms with his nature and all that it entails.

I don't get it, why couldn't she be the one? Every one of these scenes frustrates the hell outta me. I mean obviously they had to build up to Lois, but in the context of this show, he constantly pushes away Lana for seemingly no reason at all.

@@Flower-x6c I totally agree I never really got why people say Lois is the one and Clark couldn't rise while being with Lana I mean I know that's the story from the comics but Smallville is different in a lot of ways And especially in season 8 when Lana got the suit they were heroes together and Clark didn't think about splitting up for one second

When I first watched this I was confused why her being ok with it didn’t make him tell her But it has a lot to do with how his parents were strict about secret/his fear about him not being human /him coming with meteors that killed her parents. He blames himself for something not his fault or control. She wouldn’t blame him but it’s scary I’m sure his mind especially with his parents for 16 yrs saying keep it secret Lana is right here She’s not nagging him she wants him to be honest bc it doesn’t matter to her She loves him period

Was actually a well produced "Superboy" type series. Usually the efforts fall on their faces or they go too far (recent Lois & Clark...veering away from the essence of Superman and that wowrld). I think they got evertthing as right as they could here. A shame it had to end as all good TV series eventually do. Casting choices worked too. Especially Tom Welling. He had that "good guy do no wrong" aspect about him. Just as Christopher Reeves did.

Not to quote Aladdin, but clark needs to *TELL HER THE TRUTH!!* Always hated how Clark was written as a pathological liar in Smallville. Seeing this scene makes me even more angry with Clark for not telling her his Secret he knew right then and there she was going to accept and love him regardless if he was a mutant, metahuman or alien because of his insecurity his fear and his doubts about himself and his alien heritage he continued to keep the truth from her which constantly hurt her and led to her mistreating him on multiple occasions throughout the seasons to the point where they don't end up together at all and that was the saddest thing ever in season 8 just when they are finally able to be together but because of Lex marinating Lana with Kryptonite radiation Clark was not able to go anywhere near her leading to one of the most heart-wrenching breakups ever in TV history!

@@colincormier5017 I understand where you're coming from and I totally respect and agree with it but it did have everything to do with his doubts his fears and his insecurities and his trust issues, he said it himself that he never understood why he was always afraid to tell her the truth about himself when she did find out his secret; it didn't strictly have anything to do with keeping her safe from his enemies for his loved ones were still endangered even when they didn't know about his secret no matter what he did or what he tried to do he could never Escape the danger that was constantly pose to his loved ones so that left only one logical outcome for him to take and that is to do a Tony Stark and reveal himself to his loved ones, he took a chance with Pete and it went pretty well yes the burden of his secret became too much for Pete but still he showed himself to be a true and loyal friend and the same could have came from Lana and I will go so far as to say that he should have took a chance with Lex for if he had just giving him the benefit of the doubt and told him the truth about himself and stuck with him he wouldn't have fallen off the deep end the way he did; lex may have been obsessive and Reckless in his Pursuit for the truth but all he wanted was to understand his surroundings and most importantly understand his best friend and closest brother for he really was trying to be a better man than his father; I feel if he had just taking a Leap of Faith with both Lex and Lana the results would have been very different and and we would have seen him being married to Lana instead of Lois in his future and Lex would have been his greatest Ally instead of his worst enemy!
