This was my first car. It NEVER EVER broke down NEVER. Most reliable piece of equipment I ever owned. I also quite liked the way it drove. You had to have a real good feeling for the amount of grip a road has to get it around corners with any amount of speed left thereafter.

I bought one of these two years ago with a misfited timing gear that was too big and grinding into the oil pan throwing shavings into the oil pan and spitting oil up into the engine bay at the same time.. mechanic replaced the two with the right size and boom, running flawlessly again. Unbelievably reliable! 🤯

Boring is an emotion you don't want, especially not as an enthusiast. With the Corolla, you pay all your EQ (emotions, such as driving excitement, character, style...) for IQ (costs, safety, practicality...). McLaren F1 is all EQ and a diesel minivan all IQ.
