There’s no rule requiring it to be specific for that purpose only. “Unspoken” rules are the agreement to a verbal agreement, they don’t hold up in court. I’d say the same energy should be kept for “trick plays” because now you see, the “victory formation” can now be a trick play. However, trick plays are celebrated for the creativity. When I played football, you play till the whistle and you fight till the last whistle. As long as you do that, you’re good. The game is inherently violent so saying the play could cause someone to sustain an injury is hypocritical.

The point is when you get in formation to take a knee you are telling the defence your not going for it. They stayed in victory formation so the coach wouldn't call time out for being in the wrong formation so they could get away with doing the play. They did it because their RB hadn't scored a TD all season. And Jameis Winston has never displayed that level of competency or discipline.
