The only valid concern is that victory formation is a tacit agreement to not hit each other, in a close game I would probably bitch about it because it's about avoiding meaningless plays where you could get injured though we were mathematically almost both out of the playoffs anyway.
@lilcameron218 ай бұрын
@@0Clewi0 agreed, but the formation is nicknamed the “victory formation” based of the history of the play being used primarily by teams who have won and plan to run the clock out. There’s no rule requiring it to be specific for that purpose only. “Unspoken” rules are the agreement to a verbal agreement, they don’t hold up in court. I’d say the same energy should be kept for “trick plays” because now you see, the “victory formation” can now be a trick play. However, trick plays are celebrated for the creativity. When I played football, you play till the whistle and you fight till the last whistle. As long as you do that, you’re good. The game is inherently violent so saying the play could cause someone to sustain an injury is hypocritical.

A victory formation is a gentlemens agreement that the offense is going to take a knee to end the game and the defense lets them. This has always been the deal since they introduced the kneel down after the original Miracle In The Medowland. If the falcons D knew they were going for a TD and they lined up accordingly and got the TD which they probably would have then fine hey you got em But Saints were in a victory formation. It was a punk move by the Saints.

The point is when you get in formation to take a knee you are telling the defence your not going for it. What happens next year when they decide to take a knee and the linebacker comes flying over the line and blast the QB ? It was a bush league play. If they wanted to run a play they should have lined up and ran it , not pretend they were kneeling .
@lagbait30768 ай бұрын
Because no one has ever used subterfuge in football. QB motioning that they are going down to avoid being tackled only to run, fake punts. Also honor to whom? To a team mate that more than likely has a pay for play clause and no td's for the season? As for what happens next season, come what may, just like any other season.

Apologies if I'm repeating something already commented, but Seattle Seahawks fans can respect that team decision. Also, this is why athletes don't like talking to sports reporters. Why would they line up in victory formation? Yes, go for it. Definitely reward your players. But do so without telling the other team you are going to kneel it then stuff it down their throats. That is the point in all of this.
@gregorylagrange8 ай бұрын
@@jgeiger19 They lined up in victory formation because that is what the coach called. They stayed in victory formation so the coach wouldn't call time out for being in the wrong formation so they could get away with doing the play. They did it because their RB hadn't scored a TD all season. People have a big problem with it like Shannon Sharpe does because it hints at a recklessness that gets in the way of achieving the ultimate goal that is so very had to do. Winning a championship. And Jameis Winston has never displayed that level of competency or discipline. My points about were about how some players who have incentives in their contracts can be sabotaged by management from getting them. So I understand Shannon Sharpe's point of view. But I'm also not mad about Jameis's point of view. But I'm removed from the situation. As is the reporter so his moral high ground attempt is something to be ignored. And the Falcons have reason to try their own thing the next time they play.
