Plenty of 100 mph sections on third rail btw. SWR Woking to Eastleigh. Ashford to Tonbridge. Ashford to westernhsnger.

@@gapthemind--mindthegap8524 I think Sevenoaks weald (just south of Sevenoaks tunnel) to just after Hildenborough. Same but its uphill so I don't think the units reach linespeed. Eurostar certainly never did, despite being the reason for 100mph limit. There used to be a short section south of Gatwick Airport that the old Connex South Central class 319 expresses used, but its since been reverted to 90mph.

@FabianEason uphill they barely reach 80 towards sevenoaks out of tonbridge. During early testing of class 377/6s they would be down southeastern sides. I think theyd have gotten to 100mph much better than the class 375s tbh.

@FabianEason why did it get reverted to 90mph? Theres plenty of downhill speed for 100mph outside of the tunnel near earlswood, second to that i assume the 319s went 100mph out of redhill???. So much wasted speed potential. Theres enough room for 100mph on the brighton fasts between purley and three bridges if you ask me.

I’ve driven a 375 in a 7 car formation. Not restricted in current draw. Just as quick as a 4 car.

@@daveb0789 from my experience the 4 cars are always faster to 60mph. Unless you mean 7 car formations arent as slow? Because its the first time ive really been on a 7 car formation. 8 cars are ALWAYS slower than single units From my recordings , 8 car electrostars always take around 82 seconds to 60mph . .4 car class 375s vary because some are slower than others. The general 0-60mph time for 4 car 375s is just under or just over 70 seconds. .12 cars are abhorent at acceleration Just under 90 seconds to 60mph. Id imagine the 4 cars being faster to 60mph generally. Perhaps the 7 car formation isnt as limited as the 8 car formations? Again this is just my general experience. 10 car 377 /6s new gens are faster to 60mph than the 8 cars...which is probably due to better power at wheels. Probably more efficient on board equipment allowing for more power to be distributed to the wheels?

@@gapthemind--mindthegap8524 I mean there’s not much to separate 4 and 7 car formations. 375/6/7/8 are usually the fastest. 375/9 are a bit slower.

@@daveb0789 id wager 7 cars are only hindered by the 3 car. Hence a slightly off acceleration. I have no idea why this is a thing, but 3 car electrostars are slower than 4 cars? Make it make sense 😂. Thats likely the limiting factor in a 7 car. It means the 7 cars are likely not power capped then just limited by a poorer performing 3 car.

Nice acceleration! Sadly im local to SWR which i do like, but 455s only ever reach maybe 60ish mph if your lucky. You got the PDL though i guess. I do wish 458/4s were on those lines rather than 450s.

@Westlondontransportguy7045 electrostars motors are very predictable once you know the pattern. They have 6 motors. 2 on a single wheelset. The back of each drivers car, and one on the trailer/ motor car closer to the gangway thats near the toilet car. To be precise, NOT IN the toilet car, but the side of the motor carriage CLOSEST TO the toilet carriage.

Damn, having just watched your 365 video, it's noticeable how much worse the ride quality on a 375 is. Anyway, it actually made pretty OK progress from 75-100, didn't it? Especially considering the limitations of DC third rail

@745ga yep. Theres liky a multitude of reasons. But a major few reasons are likely because they dont have platform screens to look at on the platforms, and in the late 90s when southeast were ordering these trains they didn't think to ask for on board side cameras to look at the platform. Southern class 377s have side cameras mounted to the carriages though. However 377s have guards in non metro reigions for some odd reasons too.
