The only time l saw double headed class 25s was at March Station in the late 70s with a loco hauled service from Harwich P.Q. to either Manchester or Sheffield .There was about ten minutes standing time so a bit of time to soak up the atmosphere and breath in the fumes ! particular poignant as everyone knew these were the last days of loco hauled operation and services on the GN/GE joint line to Spalding would be DMUs only

Nice, I grew up by the Lydgate viaduct in the 60's and 70's, the 40's could be heard from a long way off with their turbines whining after short thrashes. Every bit as good as the steam engines and even better when they were banked up with steam.

Remember that well. I was one of the people on the bridge.

Yeah, they added the two Manchester Pullman coaches to the set because of demand if I remember correctly.

That looked a slog at Copy Pit for two Class 40s. Looked like some wheelslip going on. Mind you, they did have 14 coaches on.
